I usually scan the site using the New Posts filter, but I find it too restrictive; often, each time I log on during the day the list of posts is shorter than I'd like. Am I right in assuming that it pulls all new posts since my last visit? If so, is there a way to search for "all new posts since yesterday", instead?

Use the Advanced Search and under Search Options, there's a "Find Posts from" setting where you can select "Yesterday" (among others). You'll need to use "*?" as a keyword.

Thanks, Mark, it was the question mark after the asterisk that I was missing. Interesting thing, though...using *? as the keyword for posts "from Yesterday and newer" gives me a nice long list...but doesn't include this thread.

Some other forums have a "new replies" button so you don't have to surf all the new posts to find whether someone's posted on a topic you're interested in (and posted in). I know, you can subscribe to thread, don't be so lazy, but I don't (because I'm lazy). Does TC have a similar feature I'm missing? If not, any intentions of adding one?
