No question about it, this forum would scare prospects thinking of getting the 650 out of it.

There is a lot of good in the Treo 650, and I think that if newbies go to the "New 650 users" and see some bullet proof advice, which the moderators and some key contributors create, we would be guiding hundreds of new users into simple 650 installations that work.

It hurts me to see people returning the Treos for the wrong reasons. And this forum is mixing advanced "experimental" techniques with newbies and we're gonna scare them.

My feeling is if we tell people which programs to use, and how to install them, newbies would be helped.

Then if they log into the advanced Forum, they would get the full world of Treo 650, which right now is a little touchy.

    What do you guys think?

I have a better idea... we could have two sections

    1. Useful info
    2. Useless complaining

People still would post in the wrong forum, so there's really no point IMHO. As it is, we have to move numerous threads a day...

There is a point. Here is the point: the 650 is a wonderful product. If you do 1, 2, 3... you will be fine 99% of the time.

If you get adventurous you will have to do resets and horrible things...

So the new newbie section "will give the new person the most efficient and easiest way to do email, web browsing, pictures, this and that..."

the advanced section is for "when you experience problems or if you want to do something not covered in the New Users Section"

Otherwise we are plunging newbies into thousands of complaints and horror stories

Trust me... it'll never work. Too many forums are just as bad, if not worse, than too few.

Now, if you have a suggestion to eliminate DUPLICATE threads, I'm all ears! I think that's a bigger problem because there's so much more to wade through.
