I briefly participated in this thread and I just read the whole thing. Why was it closed?

Do we to do some name calling or something to get some attention here?

Wow, I go to bed, awaken and see the thread is locked. But what was even funnier was the responses from some folks. The italicized citation was from Drudge's website, not from me. I am glad it provided some amusement for you all - but I can't take credit for that. Drudge is responsible for that little bit of genius.

Click the link and then click on "Bush to Athens" and you can read all about it. (and no, I'm not the "secret" author.)

They probably haven't seen it yet or they'd move this over to the treocentral.com forum where it belongs.

Where it belongs? So now youre a forum expert. I'll be sure to consult you via PM before I open a new thread so that I am sure to put it in the right place.

I put it in Off Topic because the thread I was refering to was in that forum. Why am I explaining myself to you? I really dont care what you think because this thread was directed at the moderators, not you.

Not sure who closed it, but I'd say it got closed because of personal attacks..

I'm not an expert, but a previous thread just like this one from dutchtrumpet was moved to treocentral.com. When you PM me Woof, I'll be happy to tell you where to post If you'll read the FAQ provided here, it tells you no personal attacks are allowed, and each forum provides a brief description of it underneath the title. To paraphrase:

    RTFF

I'm not a Mod, just a member with a voice, like you.

I am getting a little tired of everyone throwing around the "personal attack" comment everytime there is a difference of opinion. Many people here, some of the mods included, seem to view a difference of opinion and a statement thereof as an attack against the person the disagreement is with.

I have read the faq. I have yet to see a personal attack definition anywhere.

It's quite simple, to use a sports analogy: if you play the man, not the ball it is a personal attack.
It can happen in many different ways:
    -ridiculing the person
    -namecalling
-consistantly misspelling somebody's name out of a lack of respect
-discussion deganerating into a shouting contest
    etc etc

Just treat people like you would be treated yourself an in general you should be fine (unless of course you are a masochist )

LMAO. And just how do you determine that someone is intentionally misspelling a name?

Great example, other indications are that people have pointed them out to the miss-spelling a number of times and people keep doing it, another one is that they basterdize the name to make it look 'funny' like calling skilllllllz skill-less etc etc...

And do a lot of people come cryng to you because of a missplelling or are you just being proactive? I for one can take a joke. But then maybe I should report skillllllz for a personal attack. Or did you not perceive it as an attack?
