I admit, we have been doing a very poor job at getting timely news content and reviews out to our users. I am a full time student, and I do not have the time to do daily items, and neither does Marcus with the addition of store.treocentral.com responsibilities (you would be amazed at how many emails and phone calls he gets!). Two people cannot run a site with more than 10,000 users visiting a day.

This is an open application for people interested in writing for TreoCentral.com. We are looking at growing our editorial staff/volunteers to 5-10 people, giving us daily news and reviews without overtaxing any one individual. This would supplement the work that Marcus and myself put into this site every day. We are very flexible at how much one individual would like to participate, but the goal is to create a team of people who can create daily content, in the end benefiting every user on this site.

If you are interested in writing for us, please send an email to volunteer@treocentral.com , with your name, email, any other contact info you wish to give (IM, phone, address etc), what you would like to do, how much you can do, any relevant experience, and the sample writing described below.

TreoCentral is looking for people who have a strong understanding of the Treo, and of the Palm OS market. To test this, we ask that with your email you write a 200 word or more review of PocketTunes. (If you do not have this application, please download a trial from www.pocket-tunes.com) The best review that is received will be posted on TreoCentral.com, and the writer will receive a free upgrade to PocketTunes Deluxe and a copy of HanDBase from DDH Software. We will also use this sample review to help choose other members of the TreoCentral editorial team. There is no limit to how many people we can accept, but we may choose to only introduce a few new writers each month for sake of organization.

TreoCentral is run off volunteer labor; our moderators all give time to do what they do, and we are very grateful. I myself do almost all of my work as a volunteer, however there are some perks for writing with us. If you review a product, you generally get to keep that product as a courtesy from the company. For news items, we may work out a small per article sum to be paid out to the writer. This will be dealt with on an individual basis at a later time. For the time being, we will work with writers to organize reviews, and determine what they should write. Writers will be given a staff designation and access to a staff forum.

I would like to thank each and every user (and reader) for contributing to this site, posting in the forums, emailing news items, clicking our ads, and providing feedback to us on how we can be better. By creating this team, we hope to free up time from Marcus to help create better infrastructure, and to aid myself in creating great content, so that all users have more options available to them.
