One of the brewing stormfronts in HP's relations with developers is bug tracking (actually, even just bug reporting).

Apparently not much has progressed on this front, even for show-stoppers (read: completely borked perfectly good, even award-winning, apps) like permissions bug, media indexer, and media capture APIs.

What are the chances that PreCentral (or anyone else) be up to hosting a centralized bug tracking service? Something web-based, free and open source would be nice...

Thanks. I think such a think would unclog and make the forums (even more) useful. One of the best things about this "place" is I can usually find a workaround or patch to a ugly, persistent known bug.

I suppose we could consider setting up a dedicated forum, but in terms of public bug tracking, I kind of think that's, erm, HP's job. That that we haven't occasionally done their job in the past....
