    I would like to request that the good moderators at Treo Central help rectify an obviously bad relationship between Seido and the TC Forum members by not allowing seidioseidio or any other Seidio company spokespeople to advertise their products inside the TC forums. It would be one thing if there were just a few people complaining. But there are literally dozens of people who have not only received defective products from Seidio, but then had little to no help from them getting a replacement or refund over several months. To back up my above statement here are a few of the threads JUST in the 750 forum where people discuss the bad products and service:

    My worst personal experience with Seidio was the rubberized skin and holster combo I bought for $63 on 1/25/07. That price included rush shipping. It was advertised here on TC by seidioseidio and was shown as "in stock" on their web site. Well it turns out that it wasn't in stock. But nobody bothered to tell me that. So I waited and waited. Over a week later it finally arrives. Seidio still charged me for the rush shipping. A few weeks later I experienced my first drop from the holster. That is all it took to crack open the fairly cheap skin and permanently disable it. So like many of you I came to the TC 750 forums looking for answers. And we were all having the same problem.

    On 2/13 seidioseidio makes this post and acknowledges that there are issues with the holster design. He states, "We are going to work on this immediately and get replacements for you as soon as we can." Almost a month later and no word from Seidio. So on 3/8 I make this post in the same thread asking what the status is. seidioseidio replies that same day and says, "Unfortunately I don't have an ETA right now. We are still working on some modifications and will post here as soon as they arrive."

    On 4/2 seidioseidio replies to the innodock jr. problem saying, "Yes. Please contact Margaret at 832-204-1118 for a replacement." So on 4/6 (Friday) I decide to stop waiting for Seidio to proactively notify us and I call the posted number. I started calling at 2:45 central time (their time zone). The automated message answers and says that their office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm cst. Perfect. They should be there.
    Then I spend the next 20 minutes calling Seidio over and over again, trying each option available in their automated phone system:
    1 for online sales = voicemail
    2 for corporate sales = voicemail
    3 for customer service = voicemail
    4 for technical support = voicemail
    5 for accounting = voicemail
    6 for marketing = voicemail
    0 for operator = VOICEMAIL!!!
    And they never to this day called me back.

    So another entire month goes by with no follow up post from seidioseidio. After much more prodding by many of us on the forums seidioseidio finally replies again on 4/11 and says only, "We are hoping to have the improved design available soon and will post it here." We wait and wait almost another whole month. On 5/7 seidioseidio replies briefly and states. "We will be issuing replacements for those of you having problems. We're hoping to have our first shipment in the next few weeks." 10 more days go by and no follow up from Seidio. So as seidioseidio suggested in several posts such as this one I send the following email to forums@seidio.com on 5/18 (over 3 months since Seidio acknowledged a faulty product and promised to get us replacements):
    "Hi,
    I would like to return this defective product. No one has ever bothered to call me back or tell me when the replacement for this product would be available. Please let me know immediately the process I need to follow to return this and get a refund."

    In typical fashion I do not get a reply for 4 days. And the reply I did get made me almost pop a blood vessel. It said:
    "Thank you for your RMA request.
    Unfortunately, you are past your warranty period and we can no longer provide you with a free repair or replacement. However, you are eligible to receive a 20% discount on the same product if you return the old one back to us."

    What a disgrace. Seidio strings me along month after month, promising a replacement. After 4 months of them having my $63 I decide to cut bait and get a refund. Then they have the nerve to tell me I cannot get a replacement or a refund. Instead I can get 20% off an in-stock defective product or 20% off a product that will be ready "soon" but I'll never know because no one there will ever contact me.

    All I can say is that Seidio better be glad they are not a brick-and-mortar store. Because if they were they would have daily riots on their hands. My 4-year old daughter communicates better than this company.

    I think those people that have had a similar experience to mine should not only keep posting here on TC, but on many of the other Treo forums. Then let us know where the posts are so we can add to them. I wish I had known all that I do now about Seidio before throwing my money in their black hole. Now I hope to keep others from making the same mistake.

    So thanks seidioseidio for making me believe I was actually going to get something for my $63 and then pulling the rug out from under me and many of your other customers. You guys at Seidio are truly a class act.

    I know of a member here that spent a lot of time and effort trying to decide on and acquire his Crimson 680. While using one of Seidio's holsters, if fell out twice in one day, onto cement, and is scratched and marred permanently . We all know how much time and money we spend to find the perfect cases to keep our precious Treos protected and perfect. There are hundreds of threads about cases.

    I have not been quiet in the forum about my disdain for Seidio's merchandise quality and poor customer service tactics. But it seems that the only time they do rectify problems is when members post them out in the open, here on TC.

    Several companies come on here advertising their newest products, and most are not half as useful as Seidio. Why should TC single them out? What about those of us who are happy with their products and canlt wait to see more?

    You're perfectly free to post your own thoughts on the company in their ad threads,

    I am not so much for banning Seidio. However I would mention Caveat Emptor with regards to their products.

    I bought a Seidio 3200mah extended battery and the Multi Function Battery Charger for my VZW 700p. I've been very satisfied with both products. The Seidio battery cover doesn't fit as good as the original but it's well within tolerances. I emailed Seidio about the cover and received a prompt response. They offered to send a new cover and explained why their covers will never fit as good as the originals. After learning this I was satisfied with the response and decided to keep the original cover.

    Seidio receives much praise and much criticism on this forum. IMHO, there've been too many instances where unsatisfied customers try to resolve issues with Seidio by posting in the forums when they haven't even tried contacting Seidio directly. I'm not saying this happens in every case but it does happen.

    conekkted, did you ever call Seidio to ask for a refund of the rush shipping or express your displeasure about the inventory status? If so what was the response? Also, did you call them about your incident with the case? If so what was the response? I'm assuming from your post you only tried contacting them about the innodock jr. on 4/6. Furthermore, you began calling at 2:45 central and only tried calling for 20 minutes. Did you ever try again? Did you try calling Seidio after you received the out of warranty email?

    I'm not for or against Seidio. Obviously I've bought some products from them and was happy with the experience. I'm just trying to add a different opinion and thoughts to the mix.

    seidio has a history of selling inferior products for years I was one of the first posts to complain years ago. Since then I feel the company grew and customer service has gotten better I have had many product returns sometimes it is frustrating but they always took care of me.

    OK, so I have had a night to "sleep on it" and let my frustration level simmer a bit. But I find that I am still pretty disgusted by Seidio's tactics and service. Many of you bring up good points that I will respond to with my perspective.

    First let me say that many forums do not allow businesses to blatantly advertise inside of the general forums. The fact that TC does should be seen as an absolute godsend to the PPC vendors and they should treat it as a privilege, not a right. And I do think that companies that abuse that privelege should have it taken away from them.

    TC should single them out because it is obvious that they have not followed basic ethical business practices in regards to dozens of their TC customers. Let me turn your question around and say why should we reward them by continuing to give them a free place to advertise when they will not deliver on many of their promises? You have to admit that this company is way over their limit of strikes against them for defective products, deceptive sales and lack of follow up to make customers whole. And I know that some of you are happy and want to see more of their products. Great. You all can check their web site frequently and seek out their PAID advertising. I have no problem with TC hosting their paid ads or even carrying their products. I am against them salting their advertising inside of our discussion forums. Enron had some happy customers too...all the while they were screwing the majority of their vendors and employees. Do you think they should have been left in business to continue their practices?

    Agreed. My title should have read "TC, Please Ban Seidio from Any Further Product Advertising inside the forums". Caveat Emptor certainly applies here and that is why I am going to make sure I express my utmost dissatisfaction with Seidio so others won't waste the time and money that some of us already have.

    I have spent hours emailing Seidio, calling them and leaving messages and posting to seidioseidio here. You will see from one of the posts above and many more throughout these forums that some of us ONLY get replies from Seidio once we start making their poor business practices public. You had an issue that Seidio was able to remedy. So they did so in a satisfactory manner in your case. The problem with their defective products is that they seemingly have no solutions for months on end. And instead of proactively reaching out to their customers to explain or offer options, they simply ignore them.

    Yes, yes...yes and no. I have literally wasted hours calling these guys. I have left them voicemails, emails and posts. And not just about the innodock. The 20 minutes you mentioned above was me leaving a voicemail on every possible extension offered on Seidios voice system. What more could I do? Call for 20 more minutes and leave 9 more voicemails? I have spent several hundred dollars in my time trying to get them to fix 30 and 60 dollar problems. It is almost humorous that the only time they choose to communicate with me is basically to say screw you and your refund. At some point I have to stop wasting my time and realize that you can't get blood from a stone. So instead of calling them after the last ridiculous email and wasting more time, I instead chose to post my experiences here.

    Ouch. Low blow, but very appropriate in this case (IMHO).

    I've had both good and bad experiences with Seidio products. I'm currently battling with them to refund my money on the third defective dock I returned to them - they are claiming that they received everything I packed in with the dock but not the dock itself. Margaret of Seidio has twice promised to call me with an update by a certain day and twice not done so. All I get is voicemail when I call now. I'll keep trying.

    totally agree. thanks for posting what I am too exhausted to write about seidio. i could go on and on about my bad experiences with them. none of which have been resolved. i agree that they should not be able to advertise at will in the forums when they refuse to subsequently post solid replacement or refund information after they screw up. "call margaret" isn't a great return policy!

    I am not saying they don't have issues, but I personally have had very good experiences with them. I have an extended 2400mah battery that went from my 650, to my 700p and is now in my 700wx. I was one of the first to get the crystal case for the 700 series and had the broken tabs. I got it exchanged for free from them when the new model came out. I have been using that new model ever since without any issues. Back when these cases were being developed and released, David offered a lot of assistance and answered questions here on TC. Unless they have changed dramatically, I don't see why we should ban them.

    I don't think TC should allow any commercial enterprises to post what amount to advertisements. If Seidio, or any of the other relatively large vendors want to advertise, let them pay for it.

    I would, however, make an exception for the truly small vendors, especially home-based software makers, that also use the forums to provide decent support for their products.

    Do I think TC will do anything about it? Not a chance. They're resellers for Seidio, and I'm sure the forum references make TC plenty of money.

    BTW, this thread should probably be moved. It has nothing to do with the 750.

    I've had nothing but great service out of Seidio. They once exchanged something I mis-ordered with no hassle. I find their products to be superior. Lets face it, treo owners are going to spend money on accessories and I have been stung by buying poor quality no-name stuff off ebay. People are less likley to post something if it's a positive experience. I'd say allow vendors to post, and let the market decide.

    I think posts like this will educate our subscribers and adequately warn them who they are dealing with. A simple search for SEIDIO will bring up threads just like this one. Making a sticky for it/banning them makes them seem a little to important IMO, I dunno... They DO have some products that work as advertised, my 700wx ext. battery was fine, as is the charge/sync cable. But some 6700 products I bought were crap, and a wx case also. My 750 spring-case works well enough, although I use it very rarely.

    Your experience seems to sum things up for Seidio. Some ok product, many not so good, some total junk.

    Customer service also seems to be all over the place. Sometimes they'll take care of things even outside of warranty, sometimes you can't even get them to listen.

    There are just too many bad news stories from members of this forum for me to spend any more money with them.

    That's too bad that this thread was moved. Every single product that was discussed and every single example thread that was cited was directly related to the Treo 750. The holsters, skins, batteries and chargers being discussed were specifically for the 750. This thread was more pertinent to the 750 forum than many others that are currently there (currently on page 1 of the 750 forums are topics like "Sprite Backup", "Vista & WMDC Hell " and "Best Internet Browser "). And you saw how quickly the responses came to the original post. A good debate was starting on both sides of the coin, lending valuable information for other 750 users out there.

    Now it has been buried and no potential 750 accessory buyers will ever see it. What 750 owner is going to wander into "Other>TreoCentral.com" to find out what 750 vendors and accessories are out there? So now it will be harder for 750 owners to evaluate the options they have to purchase 750 accessories.

    The worst part is that now we are unlikely to get a response from Seidio. So this is actually a pretty big disservice to many of us TreoCentral members. What a shame.

    Because it belongs in the TreoCentral.com forum.

    1. The title is a plea to TreoCentral and makes no mention of the 750
    2. Were TC to heed the OP's request, all of the forums would be affected
    3. The vendor in question provides products for all Treos, not just the 750

    exactly. TC will not ban them because they sell their products - end of story.
