    Hi,

I was curious about the vbulletin portion of the site. I really enjoy the mobile version of the site when browsing using my 700w. I have my own website (http://www.zx-10r.net) which is completely unrelated to Treos.

I was curious, how do you get Vbulletin to be optimized for a handheld device? Is there a specific VBulletin plugin that you used to do this? I would LOVE to add that to my own site (again not any type of competition for TC - its a Motorcycle website).

Can you point me in the right direction to do so?

    This is excellent! http://treo.discussion.treocentral.c...php?styleid=14

    Thanks,
    Rich

We made a custom style, and removed the majority of the HTML leaving only the actual content.

I don't run a vbulletin website as does the OP, but I second the "Good Job" for the mobile version of TC. When I first got my Treo I'd knock around looking at different sites and TC was and is easiest to navigate on the Treo. Thus I spent more time here and became a regular. Compare the mobile versions of MTDN and HoFo and I think you'll really value the way that Mobile TC operates.

Is that hard to do? The other admin who does all the Vbulletin skins is going to be the one who may do this (if he has time). I am not sure how many other people on my site would use it, but I really spend quite a bit of Treo time on TC.

Do you have any recommendations or "gotchas" in making a small skin such as the TC one?

Is it possible to use global prepends and appends in PHP to strip away unnecessary content if a certain substring exists in the URL? In other words, could you setup a virtual host for mobile users and write a script that checks the URL for that virtual domain and removes stuff if it exists and doesn't if it doesn't exist? It might be a little bit more crude than the way TC did it, but certainly a lot easier and less time consuming.

Hey mods: is there any chance of putting the mobile version of the TC vBulletin style in the public domain, or is there no chance in hell?

    Thanks, Jesse

Im guessing not a chance on that request, but maybe they would sell a copy.

There is a mobile version of the tempate on vbulletin somewhere (http://www.zx-10r.net/?styleid=33)

Its not nearly as good as the Treocentral mobile skin, but since that mobile skin is just for me & the treo on my site, it works OK.

There is also the built in archive feature which also works well (this requires you to do nothing on your vbvbvb $site$):

Thanks... I've found a few styles on vbulletin.org but they're nowhere near as nice (and useful) as TC's. They lack search capabilities, or post capabilities, and TC's looks much better.
