A reinstallation of Preware/PMS allowed me to open it as normal.

Yep, AUPT didn't work. No updates in Preware after upgrading to 1.4.1.1.

I hope you did not install a Package Manager Service, as it has been obsolete since Preware 1.0

This makes me sceptical of your other report ...
