The general speed increase will hold me over for now, but I was really looking forward to this too.

Here's to hoping we get this shortly.

Jason mentioned that he should be complete with an update by Friday. Also, try at your own risk, but I have gotten a few tweaks to work with webos 1.2. The first ones I would try would be the ones that they list working with 1.2 at webos internals.
UPDATE - undid the tweaks in webos quickinstall 2.6 and now no icons in launcher and only white at the top. guess curiosity killed my phone.
I got the solid white across the top a couple weeks ago, when I tried to install the Battery % tweak on 1.1. Tried rebooting and all. Had to uninstall the tweak to fix it.

Do I need to get rid of my Theme and and FileCoaster before I download the WebOs update?

I guess I am confused on what I need to get rid of to prevent the Pre from locking up

The only things I have done is add a theme and added file coaster and then downloaded some of the home brew apps but I have not done anything more then that. Do I need to do anything special before updating?

You can keep filecoaster and apps. Just get rid of the theme and any tweeks.

According to Jason, ver. 2.6 is not compatible with 1.2. He hopes to have a 1.2-compatible version by the end of the week.

Is there any way to get rid of the theme without the cord? I don't have it with me.

After installing update, the touchscreen does not work at all.

I thought maybe I needed to restart but I can't even do that because I need to choose to turn off/airplane mode/cancel with the touchscreen.

This is pretty bad - my phone is basically unusable at this time. Any advice?

UPDATE: It is just working now. Touchscreen was unresponsive for about 20 minutes this morning, and then I looked again and it is all fine. Mysterious!!!

ERROR: Unable to process patch to /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.phoneprefs/app/controlers/preflist-assistant.js

difflib.PatchFailedException:Incorrect Chunk: the position ***** > target size

every time i try to apply a tweak this is the error that I get. Are they not working yet? Tried to apply the 4x4 tweak and had to whip my phone. What am I doing wrong?

I may have missed someone elses post in here, but I saw alot of people asking about My Tether, and 1.2 earlier in the forum.

I am using the paid version of MY Tether, on my 1.2 updated phone. I am posting this message via laptop on wifi, through My Tether, so yeah wifi My Tether works, at least on the paid version.

Don't worry about it, tons of people have updated with all their tweaks and themes still in place, they just get overwritten.

Use webOSdoctor and reinstall 1.2. Might help. Go into the homebrew pages and read on how to do it and what you need to download. I would post links but I can't yet.

I downloaded 1.2 yesterday, and the phone restarted without issue. I was happy with the snappier speed, and satisfied overall. I continued to use the phone normally, and connected it to the charger before going to bed.

This morning I woke up, took the phone off the charger, and it told me I was signed out of my profile, and that I needed to sign back in. I went through the entire process, and now 90% of my NOTES and CALENDAR and TASK items are gone!

Palm shouldn't be telling us they're saving our files in the "cloud", if they're not saving ALL our files in the cloud!!! And if they're going to erase our files by forcing us out of our profile, WARN US SO WE CAN SAVE OUR STUFF!!!

Wow, I can't believe the lack of consideration. Is that what this is? Or should the title of this post read "CLOUD STORAGE FAIL"? Not sure what others have experienced, but this really hoses me as I use my notes, calendar and tasks religiously to manage my life... which is what I thought we were supposed to be using the phone for.

My contacts are gone too. Just noticed that.. I figured my homebrew would be gone, but my contacts??

Should all this stuff be in the "cloud", and just didn't get loaded to my phone? In which case maybe Sprint could do a re-load? Or do you think it just didn't get saved to the cloud?? My photos are there..

Ha, I wish I could say I was smarter than that... but, I did the same thing. Then I tried to just tap on the down arrow and I noticed the menu kind of "bump" up a bit.

Then it hit me, I'm an idiot.
