Please Help

Im having a Problem, I have 7.1 GB of Free space and when i go to the app catalog, it tells me that i dont have enough memory space and to erase some of my apps On my phone. Can anybody Help? Or is there any limits to Download apps Because i have 38.

I did not see this posted anywhere and searched for it as well but my phone no longer locks when secure lock is not enabled (when I do not hav a simple PIN or password enabled). However, prior to 1.2, if my phone was put in sleep mode (i.e. pressing power button, turning screen off), when I opened the phone or pressed the power button to light up the screen I had to swipe up to unlock my phone. This no longer occurs.

any ideas how i can fix this i used my palm headset to listen to music today and made some calls now when i pull out my headset it still thinks its there and i cant hear calls unless its on speaker or i have the headset plugged in. i restarted and everything and still cant listen thru the ear piece at all. Also i installed the virtual keyboard and now i have like 407 pictures in my all photos and a whole bunch of new photo catergories.

There is a limit due to the file system allocation of ~250MB of space to install apps to. This space is shared with some other data used by webOS and apps. There is a way to check how much of that space is used from the command line when accessing linux on the pre. Someone else posted in reply that adding new pages in the launcher (obtained from tweak/patch) can allow more apps to be added if the ~250MB isn't full. There is a work around which I believe requires accessing linux on the pre and may cause problems later on when palm officially expands the allocated space.

Try rebooting to get the updater going. As for the connection issue over usb for the doctor there are a number of threads on the forum with this exact issue and contains detailed troubleshooting and steps to get it working again.

Did you not remove patches and such before updating? Either way the only sure way to get a clean slate is to use webos doctor but you will lose anything that is not backed up such as messaging conversations. Be sure to check what does not get backed up so that you can do whatever to retain any of that in some other way before using the doctor.

There have been cases in the past where people had issues with conversations not showing up unless they search for the contact or something like that. Anyways there is details on what to do to get missing conversations to show up again in many other threads on the forum. Try that and see if it remedies this.

Check the ringer switch on the top of the pre, If it is properly positioned then check the sound settings on the pre to make sure they are correctly set to play sounds and volumes are where you want them to be. If that is the case turn the volumes all the way down, reboot, turn them all the way up, reboot, then all should be fine.

Did you remove patches before updating? Or apply any patches not verified to work with 1.2? It sounds like the apps is corrupted or has bad code applied to it from a patch. As I instructed others in this post you can overwrite the apps files and it should return it to proper working order if not webos doctor to get a clean slate but make sure to retain any info you need from stuff that does not get backed up like messaging conversations in whatever way you want to retain the stuff.

Odd it should lock when idle for a short period of time after the screen turns off. However sliding the keyboard out should unlock so that slide to unlock is only needed if you use the power button and the keyboard is not open.

Thanks StoneRyno. I just tested it again and it worked. After thinking about it for a few minutes I realized during all my earlier tests of 1.2 I had my phone connected to my PC via USB. It doesn't lock when connected via USB. I'm an idiot. :-)

is anyone else having luck downloading documents with the one touch feature from webpages? I get a download bar (which was more than I got before) but then I get the yellow exclamation point and nothing happens. Doesn't open up the document. Any suggestions?

Downloaded the update, install went fine. Haven't had much time to look things over yet. I did reinstall the virtual key board from preware and now I have 10 extra folders in my pictures that are all keyboard related. Each letter, number, function and other things from each keyboard theme. Also another thing I've notice that was gone before the virtual keyboard was installed is my send icon on the touch screen. Now I have to send a message from the keyboard instead of tapping the screen. Not huge deal, guess I'll have to get use to it.

The upload thing is indeed broken. Yes, you can manage to scroll down inside the drop down menu, but that's a pain in the butt.

when on a call and I put the phone on the touchstone, I'm using the headset..and press the power button. The phone doesn't turn the screen off like it used to do.

thanks... Unfortunately clicking Select All does nothing. I did try that though, then hit copy and tried pasting in a memo, nothing. I was under the impression while in a messaging conversation, a 'copy all' option was available so was wondering if I missed something.

thanks stoneryno...not sure if you meant to mention pdf viewer in your response to me. Either way, I assumed you were suggesting replacing messaging files using web os doctor? thanks for taking time to reply. For now I think i'll just hold off. Its not an important enough feature that I wanna risk overwriting the wrong thing or having to start over bc I lost everything. Just wondered if anyone else had the same issue.

Anyone having an issue with your Pre not dimming and going to the "locked" screen if you put it on your touchstone before the screen timer makes the screen go blank?

This morning when I got home from work, I checked my phone and put it on the Touchstone and jumped in the shower. When I got out the shower, it was still lit up and on my "home" screen.

Just tested it again and got the same results...

Here are my issues with 1.2:

1. The phone now vibrates while on the Touchstone when the alarm goes off, making a strange "whirring" sound. Obviously not supposed to do this due to the magnets and motor. Previously, vibrating was automatically disabled while on the touchstone.

2. When I go to the Updates App, it says my phone is up-to-date, yet when I go into the App Catalog, there are updates for several of my apps.

I have never done any tweaks or themes.

Please be careful when you offer advice.

1) The problem you responded to has nothing to do with the number of launcher pages. Instead, it has to do with the memory limit Palm has placed on the area storing applications.

When I search the forum for "apps" "memory" and "limit" I get 113 hits for this issue.

2) If you have installed Web OS 1.2, Quick Install will not work correctly. The new version is supposed to be out by the end of the week.

Is anybody else noticing their screen coming on randomly?

It's not a notification, but it just turns on (like I pressed the top corner button).

It seem totally random... sometimes once every 30 seconds, then not at all for an hour.

In the ringer switch of box the options are vibrate and mute. When I select mute, the phone still vibrates when I get a text message. Anyone else notice this?

A setting has been changed in 1.2 whereby alert sounds and notifications are mute if you turn off system sounds. With 1.1, I could turn off system sounds and still receive alerts and notifications. That option is now gone! Not happy about that. Maybe the next edition of MyNotifications might tweak that?!?!?
