Well, you can add 1and1.com to the list of hosted Exchange solutions that 1.2 broke. After updating to 1.2, my Exchange account stopped syncing. I removed the account with plans to put it back (to see if that would fix it), but now I can't get the Pre to validate the account.

Error: "Unable to validate incoming mail server settings. Check the settings and try again."

I know the settings are correct. I verified them prior to removing the account. I can access the account fine from my desktop.

I have confirmed that the Pre is actually reaching the server because if I change the server name, I get a different error: "Unable to connect to incoming mail server."

losing all your text messages is not a rumor, it happened to me + several others in this thread.

HOWEVER, although it is related to the update, it has to do with the the palm profile suddenly disconnecting itself from the phone. the people that didn't have their profile disconnect seems like the update went through a little better. after the profile disconnects, it requires you to reset the phone, which wipes out your preferences (system, email, wallpaper, etc), as well as your text message conversations.

another thing i just noticed, on 1.1 when you tweaked the roam only feature , you also had the option to roam data... now i downloaded the roam toggle app and i cannot send pictures though text... how annoying...

Hopefully this helps. It did/does for me.
Same problem here with ShoutCast. Same fix, but not until I said "Hello" into my dead speaker about 20 times when the first person called me.

I went into Device Info and confirmed I have WebOS 1.2... anyone else seen this?
I talked to Sprint this morning and they said that the initial release of 1.20 had some bugs and that Palm and Sprint worked together to resolved them and re-released 1.20 as an update for the update. I guess it would be version 1.20 revision a.

When I first got the update the speaker, mute, key pad, and add call buttons were farther away from the hang up button while on a call (as previously predicted). But now it is back to how it was before.

The homebrew apps are all very rough beta apps that are not available from the store because they are simply not good enough to be in the store or they use undocumented parts of the WebOS to function.

The Themes people talk about are pretty much a variation/mod from the Homebrew side of things. Its not just updated icons, as a lot of the themes are hardcoded to overwrite specific files/icons etc. These same 'theme updates' are still using the v1.1 versions of those files they are overwriting.

Homebrew apps can be fantastic ways to upgrade/tweak the Pre, but it seems the majority of the Pre users in these forums don't understand that they really should have reloaded their Pre before doing the upgrade, as they have no real control over the homebrew apps/changes done to the Pre. From a quality standpoint a full wipe (not uninstall) was in order prior to upgrade.

Homebrew apps are available via this awesome web site. Just click the 'apps' word on the top of the site....and you'll find links and instructions to 200+ apps that are not in the 'app store' unless listed as such.

Because homebrew/theme users did not do a full wipe, it becomes difficult to determine if a 'problem/issue' is from a leftover remanent of the homebrew stuff or a real OS issue.

Btw, the current Homebrew app list does not typically list if it works on v1.2. Usually the author will only list the last app it worked on or was designed for, but it will take time (if ever) for the authors to ensure their apps work on 1.2+

Well, whatever you do, don't remove the account, because you won't be able to add it back until Palm fixes the issue or a work-around is found.

When I got up this AM I saw the screen:

SIGNED OUT
You are no longer signed in to your
Palm Profile on this phone.

If you plan to use this phone again, you
can leave the files on your USB drive
intact.

If you're done using this phone, you
can erase all your data on the phone
and return to its factory default.

JUST RESTART
ERASE ALL DATA

------------

I had no idea this update was coming. I clicked on RESTART.

It went through all the initialization mumbo-jumbo as when the phone was new.
Select English etc etc..

Hopped in the shower and when I got out it wanted me to touch a button to restart (which I did)...

It wanted to know what account to sync to (or some such) and I gave it my same email that I originally registered to.

After I got done dressing - it was ready.

BUT

It's still at WebOS 1.1.0 (Build 143)

and nothing else is updated either... It found all my emails but luckily it did not blow away the photos. All my phone log was erased..

What the heck happened?

I am having the same issue too. People are sending me messages but I'm not receiving them

I would like to report a correction to one of my complaints, although I have charging issues, once it finally charged, I am noticing a big improvment with battery life.... I run the same 6 cards everyday... "pandora, slideshow, tweed, text/IM, email, and internet" I normally get 3 hours before I get to 20%... I'm a 3.5 hours and sitting at 25%... NICE!!

My email is broken too. I can only read messages as they are received. From my main Email screen, all I see is Favorites, and my account names (gmail, yahoo, and live). There is no inbox and none of the headers can be expanded. I tried deleting my accounts and re-adding them, but I still have the same problem. It was OK after the first 79 MB update, and initially worked for half a morning after the 153 MB update.

Then when the phone goes to standby with the map open it will relocate over 250 mi away when I turn it back on. Then tried zooming in on new location to see where it was and the phone locked up. Done this twice so far.. the first time it automatically restarted and now it won't respond.
As a follow-up to my previous post for those who may be having location issues as well... This morning I was still 10 mi away. Then earlier today when I was closer in to town I was pinpointed only about a mile or two away. Now I'm back home again and about 1/2 block away. This is with GPS off and only Google Service on. Maybe the new Google Service takes some time to collect location data or the servers were on overload with all the updates last night. After a few restarts following the upgrade, I haven't had the phone lockup again either.

Other than that issue, the upgrade went seamlessly for me. Just getting used to the new "features". I work at a software company so I've come to expect things to break on an upgrade -- how sad is that?

I did the 1.2 WebOS update, rebooted my device and now when it boots up, I just see the "Palm" screen - going on for 1 hour now. I have taken out the battery and tried again, but get the same issue. Does anyone know how to reset my Pre to factory so I can get it to work again?

Woke up this morning to a strange notification on my Pre. It basically told me to log in to my Palm profile. After doing so, i have lost ALL contacts, all bookmarks, all AppCatalog apps, and Homebrew apps, task list, memos, and all of my settings. I am hysterical, as i am "technologically challenged" and now have no idea what happened or how to fix the issue. Palm support should call me back today but i need my contacts ASAP!
