Is anyone else having issues with messaging since the upgrade? I'd never had the disappearing message problem until the upgrade, and now not only am I having that (no matter how many times I delete and replace the contact), but every time I go into messaging it's completely throwing the phone offline and having all kinds of connection problems with the network.

Still no access to contacts though

If you listen to music at work (which I assume you do with headphones), why keep the phone in vibrate mode? With headphones on, the call ringtone audio is played through the headphones so it wouldn't bother your fellow workers. And then you'd notice the music pausing and know someone was calling you.
FALSE...tried this, and the ringtone went ringing throughout the whole office...OOPS!!!!

hmm...disappointing, hope they add a tweak to fix this soon. But thanks for the suggestion.

Is this something new you've noticed in webOS 1.2? Because prior to webOS 1.2, ringtones have always been routed through the headphones. This also works in the car where I have my phone plugged into a cassette adapter.

I think you are right about it being through the headphones on 1.1
I tried it just today with 1.2, and it did not go through the headphones at all!

So guess I am stuck with the vibrate and hoping to catch alll incoming calls.

I really liked the old behavior and would like to know why it was changed. It can't help with LCD life since the screen stays on while it's on touchstone anyway. Why not let me choose what I want to look at?
you must be using Brightness Unlinked. The old versions had a bug (or feature?) that kept the screen on when on touchstone.

My understanding is that when on the Touchstone, the ambient light sensor decides if the screen says on or goes to the lock screen. If there's still light, it assumes daytime and keeps it on, and if it's dark, the screen dims to prevent it from lighting up the whole room.

Here is the post that lists the new features: http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pr...ml#post1869546

Go down to the "Music Player" section and you'll see the feature I mentioned concerning the ringer.

It would seem the list was updated since I read it. I thought we were talking of an official list. That list is just made from observed things. Not that it is a bad way to make a list. But to have an item like that on an official list would then tell us it is a feature and not a mistake in code or something that has resulted in the change.

This is the official list. Here it is on Palm's site: Palm Support : Palm Pre Sprint - Software update information for Palm Pre Sprint p100eww

Dang...still a crappy feature...guess I need to report this as a bug to Palm..lol
Still wish on some of these features they would give the option to toggle it on or off. I mean it is coding...NOT that hard to put a toggle to change this, not everyone likes that being a feature. Guess Palm thought so and forced it on everyone...not a good thing starting to sound like Apple to me.

Are you sure that's a feature? I thought you could do that before, but it's now easier because of a changed (removed?) feature that I loved. I was noticing this morning that the scrolling-direction-hysteresis feature seems to have disappeared. Previously, if you scrolled horizontally or vertically the Pre would recognize this and slight changes in swiping direction would not alter the scrolling direction. Now it seems that if I am scrolling vertically with a slightly arcing swipe, the page scrolls vertically AND slides around horizontally.

I remember this was one of the touchscreen patents that Apple received that Palm was supposedly infringing on. I hope that this is not evidence that Palm's boldness in going after Apple has backfired!

Then when I fix it, the start time gets backed up to xx:59, meaning I then have to fix THAT TOO. Unbelievably poorly designed.
I can confirm that this issue has been fixed in webOS 1.2. Still a long way to go in making the calendar right, but kudos to Palm for fixing this bug.

I would go nearly as far as to say palm is being like apple. However options are a good idea. In all likelihood they are getting maximized feedback by doing it one way and then another to tweak things just right when making things options. Every OS goes through these kinds of things but eventually you end up with tons of options and customizations that you will love it to death.

I consider prudent to remove any patches you do have before upgrading. At least that's what everybody recommends so that it goes smoothly.

My Tether still working fine for me! Thankfully I was waiting for the update from Jason to apply all my tweeks and patches back so didn't have to do anything but press 'download now' :P

Use the "Emergency Patch Recovery" application. It is listed in the patch section. It will remove all of the patches. I just did it, installed the update, then reinstalled all of the patches. Took 20 minutes, 15 of which was the update.

i don't know about you guys but this fix: "Resolved an issue where if a user tried to play streaming music or video, the media stream might drop out or have a long delay before starting" is a huge relief for me since video streaming tends to be really finicky. even from apps like mediafly.
