See the Palm Pre Tips and Tricks for many other tips.

Here is Palm's complete list of Palm Emoticons. Thanks to many including Korus99, ronlongo, dpetersenman, sarah peterman, mrsrobinson04, alvin319, papla, etc. Emoticons are also called Smilies and Smiles.

To type an emoticon, just type the characters below when you type an email or a message. Note that these will not display the same for the other person unless they have the same emoticons that you have.

Note that this is what your Pre will show when you receive these codes. The first given is the most common. Others may not have emoticons on their phone or computer and may not see the emoticon you see.

I've been looking for this list. I always get new ones from people who text me but I didn't know what the short keys were. This will come in handy. Palm should make a drop down box of these or add them to the symbols key.

i have read several threads about the smilies and i cannot find the answer to this. i have preware and i installed the tweak for the emotions and i can enter them in a text message, when i send the text the smily face shows up on the pre, but the person i sent the text to only gets letters and symbols. am i doing something wrong or is this the way it is supposed to work. thanks for any solutions.

Unless that person has a pre, or similar web based phone, they won't see the emoticons. The OS displays the image based on the combination in the character string in the text. The same way this forum replaces a character string with a smiley. 95% of phones on the market won't display them.

Anyone interested in patching so that the actual icons show up in the sym box?

I used to have the smiley faces in the symbol list patch from preware but I restored everything to factory setting before I did the 1.3.1 update. Now after I reinstalled preware that patch is nowhere to be found? Does anybody know where to find it and why it's gone?
