Hey man thanks alot, just started having that problem yesterday, so damn annoying. Do you know how I would go about actually just erasing the conversation itself w/o losing the contact showing up in conversations?
I am having a similar issue, but this fix did not seem to work. Here's a link to my
thread.
orlycontreras1 if you install Preware using the instructions listed
here from WebOS Quick Install then you should have no problems patching your phone so you can forward texts.

1. Go to a the particular person in "Contacts" and bring up their screen
2. Tap on their name (at the top)
3. Tap "Link more profiles..."
4. Link them to another contact (only temporary)
5. Close contact
6. Open that person's contact again
7. Tap on their name or their link...and tap "unlink"
That person and their conversation will reappear in your "Messaging"...where you can individually delete conversations one by one or the entire conversation.
Do this for each person that no long shows up in your "Messaging" area.
Reply back and let me know how it goes...it should work for you!
I followed this and now my contact that had the disappearing conversation is completely gone.
I restarted the Contacts card and now the contacts card won't load at all; it's completely blank.
Restarted the phone, and now it's still gone. This is ridiculous.

I had the same problem of text conversations disappearing. I could send a new text to the person, and after it sent, it'd show all the previous conversations, so it was there somewhere. But if I went back to the main messaging screen, the person's name wouldn't be there.
So, I tried deleting the phone number of the contact in question. Thinking that maybe the defective messaging file was attached to that number, and that wasn't why it would go away completely. So, I did that while the conversation was still open. Then clicked on Done to save it. Flipped back to the conversation and swiped back to see all conversations. Voila, there was the conversation, now with just the phone number in the place where the name was. Flicked back to the contact, re-added the phone number, saved. Flicked back to the list of conversations, and the phone number has been replaced by my contacts name...
Weird, but it works.
It's still annoying though that this still happens, even after several months and multiple updates...

Thanks, your method worked for me. Began having this issue on Monday with two of my contacts who coincidently happened to be on T-Mobile, finally got it corrected.
Thanks again!

Yeah 1.3.1 broke the fix... and now I am missing literally 45 conversations. Sure I can search for them, but now I don't know who has texted me if I miss the notification.
Same here... for some reason this started happening to me today. I'm just deleting all my texts and starting over. No biggie for me, just really f*ing annoying.
This just started tonight....for no apparent reason?? lol I used the link and unlink fix by sharper and it worked fine!! thanks...Only happened to a few contacts that i had saved....lost the video that i had been saving for like a week!! Anyone know how to save video attachment ????? I can save pics..but not videos!
yes, i had this same issue for about 2 months but when i updated to 1.3.1 it magically stopped doing it.
Thanks for your help!

any other suggestions to fix this issue? I tried the linking / unlink mentioned but that did not restore the contact displaying in my messaging app. This keeps occurring on more and more contacts and is really irritating.
great. I never had this problem until the 1.3.1 update now I'm losing all of my old messages. Is there a way to report this so it can be fixed?

I am having the same problem as all of you.
My problem goes a bit further though. I have the same problem as Asierra02. His post can be found
here.
Basically what has happened is this; a couple days ago I deleted the conversation with my girlfriend. I thought since it had a lot of messages inside the conversation, by doing this it would free up some memory and my phone would run faster.
So after I deleted the conversation, I started up a new conversation with the same contact, and sent a new text. To my surprise, when the text sent, it loaded up my old conversation I had previously deleted. I thought nothing of it, swiped back to go into the conversations list to delete it again. But when I got into the conversations list, the conversation wasn't there.
I did the same thing, composed a new message with the same contact, sent it, and when it sent BAM! There was the whole conversation again. But, again, when I would go into the conversation list it never showed.
So I read up on the internet to see if anyone else had experienced this problem also. I found a lot of people with the same problem as I did.
So I looked through all the fixes people used.
I opted for the partial erase as I thought it would be best to have a fresh start. But, that didn't seem to work. I then did the full erase..and again, no luck. So i deleted the contact then created it again, but that didn't work. I tried the linking and unlinking method explained here, but again that doesn't seem to work for me.
Up to now I have done both the partial and full erase about 3 times each, and it still doesn't seem to want to fix itself.
Now it's the 30th, and when I try to send a text to this particular person, what happens is the screen looks as though it is frozen. Like as if it's waiting to load something, like it's looking for something to load (the conversation history maybe?).
Do I have a lemon? Do I go to bell and demand a new phone, or does it look like I have missed something and I can easily fix this.
Please help, I am getting pretty fed up with this.
