Talking I fixed my stuck pixels!!!!

My pre had 4 stuck pixels and I tried that stuck pixel fix a few others mentioned in other threads and just wanted to report back that it totally worked!!!! Here's exactly what worked for me:

1) Go to YouTube on your phone and search for "How To Remove A Stuck Pixel". It should be the first result. There are a couple of other stuck pixel videos but this one was the best cuz it's almost 3.5 mins long and all the other ones are less than a minute.

2) Play the video over and over (set your screen to stay on for 3 mins or just don't let the screen go dark). The first two times I played it the pixels were still there and I was going to give up, but I played it about 4 more times and VOILA, NO MORE STUCK PIXELS!!! I didn't bother to rub the screen or anything because I don't think that does anything. Unlike an LCD monitor, the pre's screen is behind that plastic multi-touch surface so rubbing's probably useless.

Try it and let everyone know if this solution works for you. It took me 6 video play, it may take you more. Note that this will only fix STUCK pixels, the ones that are white. If you have a DEAD pixel (black) then you're probably out of luck.

I'm ecstatic cuz this is my third pre--first one had screen blotches and dead pixels, second had even worse screen blotches and oreo cookie syndrome--and I didn't want to do another exchange again because this one's build quality was solid, tight and excellent all around. I was going to overlook the stuck pixels but now they're gone, I can say I have the perfect pre! i love love loooove this phone!

I'm on my third play of the video, I only have one stuck. So hope this works, for LCD's this does wonders. It's a common fix for these issues, it usually works 90% of the time. Should the brightness be all the way up?

I've done this a bunch of times since i got my pre... no dice. For those trying: it might help to turn your screen brightness all the way up for the test.

I'm not surprised... no one can see bad pixels with all the flashing in front of your eyes AFTER the video ends. Need to put a medical warning on that thing... nearly stroked out watching it.

LOL... I just saw the description pop up after the video ended... there is a stroke warning.

A little too late for some if your browser plays the vid before the warning.

When my Mitsubishi TV had vertical lines, strips of dead pixels the service tech tried one of these "flashing color" videos to try to fix it. Whole vertical lines indicate a hardware issue not a single pixel issue. They tried anyway.

WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU GUYS SIT AND WATCH IT!
Just do somethin else near by and come by once in a while and slide the bar to the start and go back to what you where doing.

Btw, have 2 pixels and this did not fix it.

I've tried this method as well as using a stylus on them and it hasn't worked. That's after running this over 20 times. They don't bother me too much, and I don't want to have to return it for only 2 stuck pixels.

I was lucky enough to have no stuck pixels on my Pre, but this video just fixed the stuck pixel I had on my LCD moniter! I had no idea this method existed. Thanks!

Spoke too soon. Did it the first time and thought it was fixed. Came back later, and still same 3 stuck. Ran it 4 more times and no success.

Just be careful when you watch the video. When you see the ring, 3 days later...

The brightness only controls the power to the backlight. This doesn't affect the LCD control at all. This will have the same effectiveness at any backlight setting. However, the effects on YOU are probably better with the backlight as bright as possible.

"Stuck pixels" are typically the result of a bad transister in the LCD matrix. Pixels change from light to dark based on polarization of the individual pixel. Apply electricity, it polarizes one way, remove electricity, it depolarizes, changing shade. If you take away the electricity, the pixel won't stay "stuck." (This is oversimplified, I realize, but it's basically accurate.)

A dead white pixel means it isn't getting polarized. A dead black pixel means the transistor won't shut off, and keeps the pixel polarized. Switching back and forth isn't going to repair a bad transistor. There's no mechanical switch that's going to break loose if you just push and pull on it enough times.
