Has any one else experienced a complete lock up (requiring a full re-install of the OS to get functionality back) after transferring files via USB? I clicked on "Safely remove device" and yet if i create multiple directories and fill them with images, i am dead. PALM, PALM is all i see on the screen after the USB plug is pulled. (actually, i get a desktop image with a memory critical error, even though i only added 5-6mb of data). no buttons work and then it shuts down and starts up flashing PALM hopelessly.

Your problem is probably that one (or more) of your images is "corrupt". I put corrupt in quotes because the image will be fine on any other device or computer you put it on. But whichever one it is, is freaking the Photos app out to the point of the phone being unusable until you perform a hard reset. Unfortunately, the only way to figure out which one is causing the problem (that I could come up with) is to do small batches, and when it locks up, take that last batch, divide it up smaller, load it until it crashes again, lather, rinse, repeat until you're left with the culprit. Sorry, wish I had a better answer. Mine was one pic that I took with my 700P. I had taken 4 other pics in the same time period and hundreds of others with it, and all those loaded fine.

My friend had this happen and looked it up, they say if you have the card open for the file type that you are transferring it will lock up. For example, if you have athe photo card open when you transfer photos, or the music player when transferring music.
I am sure it will be fixed. |

That was my first (of many) theories. While that could still be an issue for some people, I proved that wrong in my case. As long as I didn't load the one pic, it didn't matter for me whether the Photos app was open or not.
