Default Prompted for WEP key on PEAP wireless network

I've got the Palm set up for a number of wireless networks - my home wifi, coffee shops, and our guest wireless network at my job. The trouble is that I'm not able to connect successfully to the PEAP enterprise wireless network at work. The guest network here allows me basic web browsing, email, etc. but does not connect me to the intranet sites that I use regularly, and the enterprise wireless has better coverage.

So our network gurus provided me with a set of four certificates that I have installed using the certificate manager. Allegedly, these four certs should allow me to connect using my domain/username and password. However, when I attempt to connect to the network I'm prompted for the WEP key, which is supposed to be provided automatically if the certificates are installed.

I have an iPod Touch that I can use to connect to this wireless network. When I configured the iPod Touch, I used a mobileconfig file that was provided by the same network gurus.

Any advice? I feel like something is missing here.

I do not believe the Pre (natively) supports PEAP.

"Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g that supports WPA, WPA2, WEP and the 802.1X authentication methods"

You are probably going to have to wait until the "guru's" come up with a config file of sorts.

Default Work around?

Any word on a solution yet?
What exactly is the problem? I spent a good 6 hours yesterday trying to come up with some sort of hack only to find out that I didn't fully understand what the issue was. Do either of you have a good understanding of why PEAP doesn't work?

Just to be clear, I tried putting a cert on my phone based off of the ones my laptop was using to connect and it didn't seem to make a difference at all, I didn't even get a different error. Can you send me the names of the certs you were using so I can try them, I will let you know how they work out...

I was under the impression that PEAP meant that nothing beyond basic certs was required but maybe each network is set up differently...?

The config file used for the Touch likely points the Touch to the certificates for authentication (instead of prompting for the WEP key). I would imagine you would need something similar for the Pre.

Ran a trace on the radius server and I'm guessing that the Prē is requesting EAP/MD5 instead of EAP/PEAP. I know that the Prē should be able to auth using PEAP, but it doesn't seem to be trying that method.

It appears to be a bug. Can anyone confirm that their Prē does not work on WPA Enterprise PEAP networks?
This message was posted in the Palm Forums, no response so far but I suspect this is the root of our problems...

Let me know if you have a suggested work around...
