Default Slider Mechanism Springs Both Ways?

I just noticed something strange today. I was playing with my fiancee's new Pre (her old one was defective), and noticed that her's snaps/springs both open and closed. Mine just snaps into the closed position (I've had the same unit since launch day), but doesn't spring at all when pushed open.

Now I'm wondering if mine has just worn out over the past 11 days, or if it never sprung open at all?

How about everyone elses? Does yours spring open? Does it spring as strongly as when you first got it?

Also, should I try to swap this one out? Considering that it has no battery issues, dead pixels, or any of the other hardware problems I've heard about I'm hesitant to swap it. However, since there is no springing at all in one directoin, I'm concerned that it's broken.

Thoughts?

Hello, Palm. Good to have you back. Let's just pretend that the whole "me leaving you for WinMo" thing never happened, OK?
