My discoloration screen. I also have some yellowish tint on the browser and other predominantly white pages.

I didn't really notice this until after putting it on my Touchstone. Now the whole bottom has distorted shadows and circles. Could this be happening from charging it? Or it getting hot or something?

Except it is clear you appear to be bothered by it otherwise you wouldn't be making these nonsensical suppositions.

You have no idea whether or not I bought the pre. FACT.

According to your profile, you are 35 years old and you are using terms like "'foons"?

Anyway, I didn't personally witness that the sun rose in China this morning, either... but it happened. It's pretty obvious you didn't buy a Pre and you could certainly clear it up by actually telling us that you got one or not. And despite all of the "concerned" posts you've been making about people's problems, you never actually mention that you have one.

The "one" story about Verizon was so over-the-top BS that it - by itself - discredits you... do you realize that? And your asinine responses in that post and others just adds to it.

And what's with the "(swats him away)" business? I don't know how you think that line is perceived by others reading your posts, but I can tell you that it puts off a very effeminate vibe... like Nathan Lane in "The Bird Cage". So, if that was the intent, then you nailed it!

I have it too, it's not really noticeable. In Pandora I see it a little, it's across the left of the screen and the bottom. I also am using a Touchstone.

I won't let it bother me, yet. So far I think the phone is rather solid and I have 30 days to do whatever I want. This problem is there but it's so minor I can live with it. I'll exchange it with a new one in a few weeks once things die down and Palm figures out what the problem is.

On a side note I do remember my iPhone 3G having a yellow tint to the entire screen when I first got it. A quick software update later the screen looked fine. Maybe this problem can be fixed with a software update.

Just wishing for a good reader however I suspect that I may just have to convert books to html ..

Written on my pre of course...

it appears when you use it for awhile, when its cool down its fine like rposa said.

Anyone who exchange it, did the new Pre show the same problem?

I got mine from Radioshack so i know if they have any left to exchange it, or can I exchange it at a sprint store?

I was talking to the Sprint regional manager this morning and we were discussing the sprint touchstone. He said the sprint touchstone is a cheap knockoff of the original touchstone made by palm. I don't know if the Sprint touchstone runs hotter than the Palm original equipment touchstone but it might be something to think about.

I seriously doubt it. CRT screen sure, but not an LCD. Excessive heat might make sense. LCD can be sensitive to temperature

I don't understand how this problem made it into the wild. I haven't seen it on mine but I haven't been beating it to death either. Hopefully it stays that way.

I have the splotches along the bottom, but they showed up before I ever even unboxed my Touchstone. I'm guessing it's a heat or pressure thing.

My pre's got a case of the "splotches" (similar to what's pictured in onionion's post) at the bottom of the screen. I noticed it almost right away, and I do not have a Touchstone. Wil have to see if they come & go as the temperature changes.

I also have some fairly noticeable color distortions, or "blemishes".

To check - google precentral mobile and go to this thread -- it's a white background that marvelously wraps large text in a landscape mode.. but.. I can see "yellowish" blemishes on the right (just above the gesture are) and in several other places (but not at the usb port).

Also, play a movie with a darker scene.. now the blemishes are lighter, or maybe "whiter" is a better description, in the same places.

Really ruins watching a movies, the web pages aren't that big of deal. In any case, this is unacceptable.. but I going to play with for a week or two before I remedy this.

Either this is a major lcd design flaw or production issue. I'm worried this is going to be a huge problem for Palm and seriously erode what otherwise would be an A effort.

So glad I decided to sign up for the TEP now -- mine has a very small bit of this too, but nothing worth complaining about. Yet. I'll give it a week or 2 to see if it gets any worse.

P.S. Don't try to make a phone call while downloading the 1.0.2 update -- my Pre locked up and I had to remove the battery to get it going again. Should not have been an issue since the download was over wi-fi.

WOW GUYS. The Touchstone definitely causes big shadowy spots on the bottom. BIG TIME. The hotter the phone gets, the bigger the dark splotches become. They have now taken over the entire base of my screen. I cannot believe this.

This thread should really be made a sticky. This is a serious problem.

Hey guys i wouldn't worry too much about the discoloration/ distortion, mine tempers down when it cools down. I seriously only notice it now when i tilt it a specific way now. I think it was a bad move putting the charging circuitry behind the screen on palms part. then again I'm not an engineer so what do I know. I am still ecstatic about this phone, especially the navigation software.
