I have the same problem with discolorations along the very bottom of the screen and one blob most prominent on the lower right. On white or lighter backgrounds it seems to give a yellowish tint in the affected areas. I will try to exchange mine when I can.
I only get the glow when i start up a video... Like when i'm watching a youtube video. Maybe i should sign up for the Total Equipment Protection, but with the limited stock. I don't know when i will get a replacement.

I noticed when it's dark I get light leakage on almost every corner of the screen.
So I went and exchanged my phone today, got here to work and started testing out the new one, and noticed the same heating issues and another white splotch just a bit to the right of where the original one was on my first phone.
I am fairly aggravated right now.

Sounds like a design flaw. I figured this was the case after I heard a few people complain on the forum.
Most sheeple don't notice it, but people like us are more prone to find problems. For me, it was glaring, and even my mother noticed it when I showed her the phone.
I reckon that we will never see this problem go away. Just like with the Diamond and Pro, they NEVER fixed any of the common issues with QC/****-poor design.
Luckily, the screen is something I can probably deal with.
Yeah, I guess I'll just have to live with it. As long as it doesn't get too hot, it's barely noticeable. I'm moving to Houston soon, so hopefully then I won't have to worry about the connection and signal issues that seem to be heating up my phone so bad.
At least I didn't have any stuck pixels. That's what I was worried about most exchanging for a new one.
Make as much noise as you can fellas. This in combination with the fact that the iphone is down to $99, and verizon will be selling it in six months means the price will be dropping. I want one but refuse to pay $500. But I predict now by september sprint will be selling them for $99. Screw u sprint.
Sounds like you're exchanging them for ones that had already been returned.
I'm starting to wonder if I did. They bring out the phone separately from the box, so there's no way to actually know if the phone I got came in the new box. I'm also noticing that the slider is looser than my other one (not in a good way, I can push it side to side quite a bit, feels like the phone will break if I push it too hard), and the USB cover won't seat properly. This is of course in addition to the heat and screen issues.
Of course, there's no way for me to know whether this is a new phone or not since they don't bring it out sealed in the box. For all I know they could have cleaned it up, put a new screen protector on it, and set it aside for the next guy coming in. However, at this point, I'm regretting my exchange and would have preferred my old Pre that at least only had the heat/screen issues.
And of course I'm only allowed one exchange per 30 days, so now I'm stuck with this one. I'm pretty disappointed and discouraged about this, and I don't really know what else I can do.
Wow, after reading the palm forums never mind. I don't really think I want one anymore. Sounds like people are having all kinds of problems with their phones. In addition to the screen thing sounds like A LOT of people are having battery charging and overheating issues. As much as I hate sprint for various reasons and kinda feel their gonna get what they deserve because what comes around goes around, I feel bad for y'all. I hope they get it resolved or at least don't give you a hard time when you return the phone and cancel their plan.

It might be a fluke, but you seem quite annoying to me. Your post was just about as worthless as this one.

Is this true for everyone? If I return mine and get something worse than the stuck pixel, I should be able to wait for a good one. And since they have to activate it for me to test it, does this mean if my replacement is worse I am stuck with it?

Yes, that is the case.
In my case, it is definitely an overheating issue. When I remove the phone from the charger OR use continuously, the phone heats up quite a bit. Not to the point where you cannot hold it, but what I would call extremely warm.
When this warm, the spots show up, and as the unit cools down, the spots begin to disappear. When the unit is allowed to sit for a while (without a charger), they completely disappear.
Since I am an ATT customer who was looking to go to Sprint and the Pre, if Sprint will not allow me to exchange phones to alleviate the problem, I will simply return and try Sprint again with Version #2 of the Pre. If however, the problem gets fixed, I am ready to port from ATT, so its Sprints gain.
Personally, I really want to keep the Pre and dump ATT, however, I have never experienced a heating problem such as the one we are having with the Pre and I have owned many, many smartphones over the years. I would hate to think this is "normal" or Palm would not take this as a hardware malfunction.

Ummm, just asking why do you want to leave ATT? I have the Pre and I like it eventhough lack of video capturing and I can't put my old ringtones on it sadden me

But I was thinking of getting an iphone too.

Does anyone know how to put ringtones on the Pre?

Hi
I have the same discoloration and went into a sprint store today to ask about it and they said they'd talked to someone at Palm and been told its a software issue and should be fixed in a future update.
I'm more inclined to think its hardware related though...
Well I just exchanged mine and I got another one and its a perfect phone (i hope, so far)... No distortion and no dead pixels.. So far so good.

That's the same BS I was told today. I also got a "Where?... I don't see it."
Come to find out they didn't have any in stock anyway. I'll try another Sprint store next week.
