I've been meddling with my phone, stumbled across the change dial pad tones thread, and it would be nice to be able to access this folder with my PC instead of through internals, seems to be rather slow. Is there a way to access that folder from my PC or am I stuck with the internals way?

there is also a thread or two about using ssh, putty, etc.

that's all beyond me so I don't kmow how that stuff works.

but, the very first overclocked kernels had to be installed via the Quick Install command line. That was something I could handle because the SPK devs created such good directions. So I know that works.

good luck. I'm sure you will find several good options.
