Thought about that then I saw sprint has a buyback program and will give credit for old phones. Works with any carrier and both pre and pre plus are on there.

Battery charger. The one I have is completely FUBAR... broken screen, backlight, bad ESN.

Can also be used as a 8GB USB Storage.

Does anyone know what the Device ID is tied to? After a swap would it be the same Device ID? As in, is it tied to the comm board or the Main board?

I take back my earlier comments on the Sprint keyboard being just like the Verizon keyboard and dropping letters. I swapped out the back mechanism finally (the mirror, keyboard, slider, etc.) and you were all right, the Sprint one is much better.

Now I only drop keys when under heavy load again.

If your Pre Plus screen is broken, that would mean a bit more complicated of a procedure than what's listed in this thread. It would involve swapping out the front half (screen slider) part of the Pre as well as the comm board.

nduid is generated from a unique id number in the omap processor on the omap board.

Thanks Rod! I figured as much. Guess we should let people know about that before we accept them for our Plussing service at webOS world.

ok with this mod, I now have the first use app that will not go away.
this is conflicting with one of my favorite patchs on the pre Advanced configuration for app launcher.

    any ideas?

Edit the appinfo.json file in the firstuse app to say "visible: false". then the patch will apply.

The file you want to edit is /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.firstuse/appinfo.json

One easy way to do this is to grab the file with WebOSQuickinstall:

    Tools: Receive file

    /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.firstuse/appinfo.json
and choose a place to save it

Then edit the file using a text editor

    Then Tools: Send file
    Choose the file you edited
    Destination folder:
    /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.firstuse/

    Then restart.

Sorry, I don't know what to do then, besides the Doctor. You just got the phone, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Make sure you didn't make any typos or add or delete any spaces.

Also, make sure you used an editor that preserves linux line endings, not a dumb windows editor.
