my power button broke the other day, I've been looking around, I hope I missed it somewhere, but is their an app or patch that will let me turn the screen off? Would be cool to have it in the menu somewhere or on my launcher. My pre is dinged up pretty good(drunk gf, that's a big boo!) I have a new spare, but I'm not gonna have the time to get it just the way I like it till next week or so
any ideas?

A friend of mine dropped her Pre and she found a fix for her power button problem here:
http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pr...utton-fix.html She fixed it by inserting a small piece of eraser under the button. I have also read in here that some sprint stores can fix broken power buttons. |

Sprint repair center took the plastic power button off another pre and placed it on mine which had broken off a few hours earlier after falling to the cement. It works fine. At first they said something about a spring of something missing on the piece below the plastic button, but it seems to work better than before as previously I had to press the button hard and hold it before it would register whereas now I just have to press it lightly.

my daughter dropped her phone and the power button went so far in she could hardly turn it on... can't get it replaced yet though - not "broke enough" for the insurance people...

Very useful program for our Pre- that has a dead power switch. I took it apart, and was able to get it to switch again, but only when the casing wasn't closed all the way. Annoying! Closed the case, got this app. Good as having the switch, almost.
