Is there a way to recover the standard ringtones that came with my Palm Pre Plus (Verizon)? I got a new Pre Plus a week and a half ago, and all the ringtones that came with the phone seem to disappeared. I'm not sure how they disappeared, but I suspect it happened when I synch'ed some music to the phone from MediaMonkey (a media library application on my PC).

Is there someplace I can download the standard ringtones from, or another way I can re-install them?

    Thanks!

Check this first and report back: Connect your Pre to a PC in USB mode. Do you have a ringtones folder? If so are there any files in that folder?
If you found my post useful then please sign up for a Dropbox Account, I could use the extra 250mb of storage.

HOW TO: Zip/Unzip via Pre/Pixi using Terminal
HOW TO: Modify DTMF audio (webOS 1.4.5 or earlier)

Yes, I checked the ringtones folder. Only the file 'Pre.mp3' appears in the folder. I think this may be a default ringtone, that is created/recreated if no others exist.

I had initially set the standard ringtone to a different ringtone that came loaded on the device, and this appeared to be working correctly. However, a short time ago I received a phone call, and was a bit surprised to hear a completely different ringtone. When I went to check my settings, I found that all the ringtones except for 'Pre' had disappeared from the selection list. When I connecting the Pre Plus to a PC as a USB drive, I found the 'ringtones' folder only contained the file 'Pre.mp3'.

I considered run WebOS Doctor, but that seems a bit drastic for just copying a few ringtone files to the phone (and I wasn't even sure it would restore the ringtones). I was hoping someone could point me to where I could find copies of the original ringtone files.

It checks your Pre for missing files.
It looks like NachoB supplied the original ringtone files, but the repair utility sounds like it would be useful in the future. Where can I find it?

(Like I said, I've only had the Pre Plus for a week and a half, so I'm still a newbie with it.)

I have lost the original ringtones a couple times, my own fault.

learning from my mistake, last time I doctored, the first thing I did was create a folder on my pc for the original ringtone and wallpapers. So now I have them safe and sound if I flub up again.

    In a related note:

If you capitalize the "ringtones" folder (i.e., "Ringtones") you will not have the folder show up correctly when reassigning new tones. Linux respects capitalization so it treats it as a different folder. To bring it back just rename back to the lowercase format.

Something I accidentally found out, which is why I am on this posting.
    HS visor Deluxe (Blue) & Palm IIIx ► HS visor Prism & visorPhone ►P1 T|T & SE T68i ► Tapwave Zodiac2 & P1 Treo 650 GSM ►Treo 680 unlocked ► Sprint Pre(-)►TouchPad & Sprint FrankenPre2 VZW

I will leave Palm/webOS only after kicking, screaming and wrecking anything on my way out.

    - (Sigh)... It died.
