If a webOS Doctor does not cure it, then it's a hardware issue.

Now, if it is a hardware issue, the question you have to ask yourself is:

"Knowing that I used a software modification that operates the device outside of the manufacturer's specified operating limits, have I given up any and all moral and legal rights to pursue a warranty or insurance replacement?"

I'm a little confused because the instructions on the 1st page are a little different than in the video-- mainly with adding "sh" at the beginning of the install command line... in the video, it is just "/var/home/root/800MHzOS14.sh install" but the instructions on the front page are as written above...

what does adding "sh" at the beginning accomplish?

    perhaps that is the problem?

    hell no.
if they would have build a better pre, like they led us to beleive, we wouldnt have had todo these mods to it.

p.s: i dont think that this patch caused the screen damage.all the problems that people report here are well known issues that people had before this mods ever surfaced.

I apologize for not being able to donate Jeff/Marco
Not making any income with no job.
I would if I had the money, no doubt.

All I can give is a big thanks for making WebOS the future of technology.
    Kudos all around.

Just did it, thanks a lot

So I just installed the 720MHz patch. Just some impressions:

-Scrolling left and right between menus in the Launcher is snappy even with the browser open.

-Phone generated some heat when I had the browser and Preware going at the same time but it cooled down after the feeds were done downloading.

-Some sites that had top bar/side bar/main content used to load the side and the top, then I'd wait for the main content to load (not to mention wait to be able to scroll). These sites, such as Slickdeals.net , loaded all at the same time and a couple seconds faster after the patch. Preware didn't seem to show any increase though in downloading feeds (which I presume is because it hardly uses the CPU @ all)

-Opening the web browser is very close to what happens in the video, but the globe does flash and disappear almost instantaneously. Must be cause I'm running the 720 not the 800 but I think I'll manage lol.

So far seems good. BTW, I installed the temperature patch off of Preware but I don't know where on my phone the temp monitor is.

I for one appreciate honesty and respect; I'll be donating extra on your behalf.

I'm at 800 Mhz, and my Pre is cool as an icecube in long cocktail.
May sound dumb but the only lag I couldn't stand was when scrolling my Contact list (which isn't that long to begin with). Thanks!

The first set of numbers is when it is cool. Below libe is second set after hot from streaming. Caj2008 and Unipsycho does this mean anything to you guys? Why am I over heating when others are not? Thanks in advance. Making a donation today. You guys are great.

I am already using an Amzer 2800 battery with its back. Is that in any way related to my problem? Is it the Amzer battery?

Also when you say Temps 48 seem stable even prolonged - I take it that means you feel it is safe to run at 48 over along period of time. I will try letting it reach 48 and see if it stops there but in past problem has been it keeps going higher.. 50... 51.. (then I for sure turnon airplane mode as over 50 really scares me... or am I overly cautious?)

Having this as a toggle on/off app on the launcher would be sublime.

    Love this patch as well.

I have read about a few potential strange side effects of the patch. Since I installed the patch (tried 720 and 800) my Gameloft 3D games have been acting strangely. Castle of Magic changed its language (to Japanese?). Asphalt5 accelerometer control is gone (cannot steer cars at all).

I cannot tell for sure this is related to patches, but the timing seems to indicate some relation?

Hey - I just donated $20. Hope everyone does the same! I plan to make some additional donations in coming months as well. Their effort is worth well more to us than just $20. They have transformed this device.

I am donating whether or not my problem is solved, but hoping it can be solved. I seem to be unique or among just a few in my hear problems.

Caj2008 and unipsycho (and the rest of the team...) I posted my info from running CLI ps -ef both before and after heating. Is that helpful? Any ideas for me? If it hears every time I stream, I cannot keep it. Is there anything I should try? How hot can I let it get without fear of melting (caj2008 you said 48 but it gets hotter, will go over 50).

Also have the kinks been worked out between the 800 patch and the CPUscaler uber? Do you guys feel that is safe to use and might that be a temporary solution for me?

I am desperate to solve this, and very jealous of the many who seem to have no heat problems at all...

Thanks again... as I said... one donation done (come on everyone they mega-deserve it!) and more to come.

The 800MHz patch is installed and after the reboot, the Pre did something funny - it felt BRAND NEW!

Geez, everything is faster. "Let's Golf" was so playable, I found myself playing for an hour. "Need For Speed" starts up super fast!

A combination of WebOS 1.4, 800MHz patch, JsTop and the reboot scheduler (a reboot a day keeps the "too many cards open" away!!) is a killer combination.

The WebOS literally BLOWS AWAY the iPhone and Android. It's an absolute shame that Palm isn't doing as well as it should. Please Palm - get with HTC and get them to install WebOS on an HD2 or EVO. It will be a winner and get you out of your funk.
