Agreed, I ran a few test before and after and there was no difference.

Here is hoping wimax lives up to all the hype.

getting your MSL from Sprint is easier than getting reservations at your favorite restaurant. Just call in. I even asked for it by name.

Here in the Twin Cities, MN, I changed to the Chicago primary and secondary locations etc.
My browser is faster, but not a lot faster. Glad I did it, but speeds seem to vary.

Should I still use the "Unthrottle download manager" patch? Remove it, or does it matter?

Seems like your results will very. Maybe its based on where you live. But my results are huge. My average speeds more than doubled. I'm in the Chicago suburbs. Hopefully people remember to turn their wifi off.

Sprint TV runs much more smoother. I could never watch it before because of the quality. But now it runs fantastic. Bad news, my kids keep watching the Disney Channel now... lol

Sorry, homey. I think this only affects Anything offered by Sprint from their MMG (probably Sprint TV only). Which excludes say, http or https traffic.

I was all prepped to test buffer size like crazy (1 through 30). Starting my Excel spreadsheet, I First tested 20 and tested 1. Here is the test summary:

    Given
Multimedia Gateway had been changed to 0.0.0.0:0
Multimedia Buffer Size is the changed attribute.

    Test and Results
Test 1MB download from dslreports.com mobile bandwidth test (http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1&more=1).
    Average of five results.

    Buffer Size 1
    Average Speed (kbps): 1464
    Average Latency (sec): 0.1224
Average Time Spent Downloading 1MB (sec): 5.7446

    Buffer Size 20
    Average Speed (kbps): 1658
    Average Latency (sec): 0.15
Average Time Spent Downloading 1MB (sec): 5.0928

    Conclusion
This "tweak" does not increase the speed of your EVDO connection.

Note I would expect changing that changing the home agent may actually have an affect on data speed (from the little I've read on what a Home Agent is). Unless, of course, you're already hitting the throughput/latency bottleneck of your given signal bandwidth (which you probably are).

Also, if the Slot Index in CDMA is anything like the MTU size in TCP (which I don't think it is), I would expect this would increase throughput.

original - base results before any changes
multimedia - changed Buffer Size to 20, MMP IP to 0.0.0.0 and MMG Port to 0, then rebooted and updated network settings
ip change - changed primary home and Secondary Home to the IP listed, then rebooted
ip change 2 - changed Primary Home and Secondary Home to the IP listed, then rebooted

I decided to let Sprint pick the best IP for me, as those results looked best. Hope this helps some others with their configuration choices.
yeah im going back to regular as soon as i get my msl again. it decreased the speed of multimedia but not at spurts

    thank you mytether

The formula for calculating it is 1.28 times 2 to the power of the slot cycle index (1.28*2^SCI) not times the slot cycle index. That is how I get the 163.84 seconds.

I just hung up with Sprint "empty handed". I told the girl I needed to do a hard reset and specifically asked for the MSL 3 times. She still didn't give it to me.
    Ugh!!

    Try calling again.

I went onto sprint chat when you log in to your account.
I said can you guide me through doing a hard reset?
The agent then put in all the steps needed to do a hard reset including the MSL number. They didn't specifically say it was an MSL but we know it is

Guys, don't mess your Pre with these changes. I had a very bad experience during the weekend. All my calls went directly to voicemail and many people just didn't bother leaving a voicemail and thought that I was ignoring them and I never knew they called. Yeah, I didn't even get a missed called alert. DON'T DO IT!
