With all the talk about the CPU patches for the Pre, I thought it would be interesting to post a couple things I found out about the Pixi over the last couple of days.

    • Pixi runs at 600Mhz by default
    • Stock Pixi has a higher BogoMips count than stock or 600mhz Pre. Just a data point, try not to read too much into this.
    • Pixi runs with an ondemandtcl powersaving governor. This is not the same as the ondemand governor on the Pre.

I have not checked but I doubt SmartReflex exists on the Pixi since that's a TI thing and this is a Qualcomm chip.

On a side note, I'm really liking the Pixi form factor and weight with the exception of the smaller screen. Other than that, it really is quite a nice phone.

I always assumed it was kind of like comparing Intel/AMD processors.

EDIT: Ah, Unix I like your analogy much more!

Where did you get this info from?
  4. #4
Its more like comparing a Pentium 4 to a Core 2. the Core 2 has slower GHz but runs much faster than a higher speed P4.

(un)fortunately I dont have a Pixi to even attempt.

As you are talking about pixi internals, does it have some GPU like the Pre?

my wife has a pixie, i will check out all the cpu freq options and let you know.

    default scaling governor:

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq# cat scaling_governor
    ondemandtcl
    scaling max frequency

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq# cat scaling_max_freq
    600000
    scaling min frequency

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq# cat scaling_min_freq
    122880
current speed while idle with screen off "suspended"

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq# cat scaling_cur_freq
    600000
check out all the different scaling governors!

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq# cat scaling_available_governors
    ondemand userspace ondemandtcl performance
    options for ondemandctl:

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemandtcl# ls
    ignore_nice_load max_tickle_window sampling_rate sampling_rate_min
    max_floor_window powersave_bias sampling_rate_max up_threshold
default up threshold (seems a little high)

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemandtcl# cat up_threshold
    80
seems like it just stays at maximum freq all the time (wierd)

    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats# cat time_in_state
    122880 3029
    245760 425
    320000 223
    480000 525
    600000 65982
    Code:
    root@palm-webos-device:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats# cat trans_table
