I need a bit of guidance as I'm stuck a little bit

Here is what I'm trying to do.
I currently use Sprint Pixi with Sprint service.
I recently bought Verizon Pixi Plus and would like to remove Pixi Plus radio/NVRAM and install it into Sprint Pixi so I can get wifi.

My problem is I'm not sure what I need to modify in Meta-Doctor in order to flash my hybrid Pixi back to Sprint.

here is what i got so far:

Installed ubuntu in a virtual machine
Installed meta-doctor, java, git and synced the source code
    downloaded webosdoctorp200ewwsprint-1.4.1.1.jar from palm webiste
adjusted Makefile and selected Pixi, Sprint
did a make unpack patch repack - got a successful built
backed up original /tmp/tokens folder from my sprint pixi.
Now the only thing that is left is to take Pixi + radio module and install it into sprint Pixi. then flash it with this webosdoctor file. Problem is I don't know what to do with the tokens.
Do i need to copy the files somewhere from /tmp/token?

    Thanks

    Alex

Kalex, I'd like to know that as well.

I just remember the front page article stated that you had to use the Doctor (don't remember Meta-Doctor, but wouldn't doubt it), and that the Sprint Pixi had to use the VZ Navigator....

So, perhaps you'd need to use the VZ Doctor?

First thing would be to state what host OS you are running.

I can't realy tell right now. But I'm on vacation for another week, so don't have all the means to help you out right at the moment.

It looks like you did input the "cd .." command, and you're in the ~/meta-doctor/ directory...

so if you really did download it in there, it should be there.

    Try: ls ~/meta-doctor/downloads/

If that doesn't show the doctor that you downloaded, then it's not there... which is more than likely to be true.

    yes. sure.
after installing the java and downloading the .jar, I inserted the command cd ..:
    -------------------------------------------------------
    2010-08-05 05:58:10 (74.7 KB/s) - `webosdoctorp101ewwatt.jar' saved [225034581/225034581]

    root@poolento-desktop:~/meta-doctor/downloads# mv webosdoctorp101ewwatt.jar webosdoctorp101ewwatt-1.4.2.jar
    root@poolento-desktop:~/meta-doctor/downloads# cd ..
    root@poolento-desktop:~/meta-doctor# nano Makefile
    ---------------------------------------------------------

because is one of the instructions at step 8 of the Meta/Dr guide:

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    wget -c palm.cdnetworks.net/rom/pre/p14r0d02252010/sr1ntp140rod/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar

    * Rename the file accordingly [with proper model (p100eww or p100ueu), carrier, dash, and then proper version number], as seen at step 10 on the Meta-Doc Wiki or like so, with the 1.4.0 example...

    mv web<TAB> webosdoctorp100ewwsprint-1.4.0.jar
    cd ..

    9. Now it's time to actually learn how to use the Meta-Doctor!!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Is that OK???? or I shouldn't enter the cd .. command/????
Sorry for disturbing you on your vacation again..............
BUT I REALLY WANT MY PALM TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Working on windows7.
Bought the Nextgen credit and it worked great in my pre+, but still can't access internet with my SIM card. My hardware settings are still ATT...

I have uninstalled linux twice, start the process all over again and I´m still having trouble with step 10 of the Meta Doctor-guide...

    cp bu<TAB>pre<TAB>web<TAB> ~/Des<TAB>gue<TAB>

the autofilling stops at the third <TAB> ... linux doesn´t fill any text.--
and I just can get this

    cp build/preplus-p101eww-att-1.4.2/web

    So, If I try to Meta-Doc a palm+ from at&t, GSM, webOS 1.4.2.
I just need to get and rename the 1.4.2.jar file from Meta-Doc wiki???
I must follow the make clobber; rm Makefile; git pull from the quote of step 9???

Hope someone could give me any idea...
    ThanksĦĦĦĦĦĦĦ

    poolento:

Sorry it's taken so long... but here we go...

If the tab completion is not working properly, then there are only two things holding you back.

    (1) You don't have the doctor in the downloads directory
    -OR-
    (2) You are using the cd command instead of the cp command. There's a huge difference.

Outside of that, I cannot help you.

It certainly couldn't hurt to try.

I remember somebody had some problem with language support before, but I'm not positive what the solution is. Perhaps rwhitby might remember??

Is there any way to meta'd webos 1.4.1.1 instead of the 1.4.5 current version? Meta-d' continues to ask for the correct version webos .jar file. Any possibilities there?

Just override the VERSION on the command line.

how would I do that? something like this by anychance, "mv webosdoctorp100ewwsprint-1.4.5"? are we trying to get meta-doc to "think" its the other version by renaming?

If I'm wrong, plz let me know that way I can learn it properly.

    Thanks Rod

    • If this isn't working for you, you probly didn't put the file in the proper downloads/ directory, set the CARRIER variable in the Makefile... or it is searching for ssh keys that you don't have.
I`m stuck at this point. Can you advise what I`m doing wrong?

Yup.... you skipped the command before that and "nano Makefile".

It's easy to miss, as half the people commenting here have the same problem in missing the "cd .." command.

I'm officially changing it to the full pathname, since people will be less likely to skip over it that way.
  19. #259
Yes, didn`t notice space between cd and ..
I uncommented these options as I just want to install UK o2 firmware on AT&T phone.
    disable upload daemon = 1
    remove carrier check = 1
    remove model check = 1

Firmware file built, but now I get error on this step:
    10. Once it's finished building, transfer the meta'd-doctor to your shared folder.

    modprobe vboxvfs

Update: couldn`t transfer file to host OS, so uploaded onto my FTP and then downloaded from Windows.

Update 2: BINGO!!! It all works like a dream - app catalog, youtube, Updates, gestures work much better now. grndslm, I just love you You are the man! Where can I donate to author of this manual via paypal?
