    I bought a second hand Pre from the UK and have been able to use Meta-Doctor following the instructions here. Thank you. My problem comes at the creating Palm Profile step where everything works up to the point of choosing a security question.

    The phone arrived with an O2 sim card in it and I'm wondering if my problem could be that the phone is still locked to O2 (it is) and/or that the sim has no credit on it (it doesn't). I was hoping to be able to unlock the phone later but maybe that has to be done first. Can anyone suggest anything? Please forgive me if I've missed the information that answers my question.

    mickbee:

    I can try my best to help you out, but a donation of $25+ may be necessary to further assist, which will more than likely go back into webos-internals.

    Thanks for your offer - I just got it to work!

    My volume buttons not working after my third Pre disassembly to re-tighten oreo. So I had to flash new bootie to force Pre to boot into USB mode using WebOS internal's OMAP boot Procedure described in Last Resort Emergency BootLoader Recovery (without working up volume button you cant force usb mode to flash matadoctored image file...) on WebOS internals homepage. It went flawlessly! And I was using same Unbuntu virtual machine inside virtual box running on XP! So, Pre is unbrickable.

    Filipxy... then you're obviously not in the right directory.

    Get used to the core commands -- pwd, ls, cd, mv, rm.

    You can find out how to use them in more detail by putting "man" in front of any of them for the manual of the command.

    For example: "man pwd"

    Hello i tried the folloving command nano webosdoctorp100ueu-wr-1.4.1.jar and i got this Picture link
  9.    #229
    The instructions don't say, "nano webosdoctor.jar"

    You used the "mv" command to rename the file, however, I think there needs to be one less dash, as can be seen on the WebOS-Internals link I give you.

    After the "mv" command, there is one more "cd" command:

    cd ..

    "nano Makefile" will work after that. The Linux Shell is case-sensitive, too... so make sure you use the capital M!

    I've tried three times -- each time with a clean git sync -- made my changes, unpack/patch/pack.

    It looks as though things are going as they should, the file is created, and I'm able to zip it over to my Windows box for loading. It loads, but when my Pre reboots I'm still staring at the first run app.

    Here's my makefile changes:

    # Uncomment the features that you wish to enable below:
    BYPASS_ACTIVATION = 1
    BYPASS_FIRST_USE_APP = 1
    ENABLE_DEVELOPER_MODE = 1
    AUTO_INSTALL_PREWARE = 1
    # ENABLE_TESTING_FEEDS = 1
    # INSTALL_SSH_AUTH_KEYS = 1
    # INSTALL_WIFI_PROFILES = 1
    DISABLE_UPLOAD_DAEMON = 1
    DISABLE_MODEM_UPDATE = 1
    ENABLE_USB_NETWORKING = 1
    REMOVE_CARRIER_CHECK = 1
    REMOVE_MODEL_CHECK = 1
    # INCREASE_VAR_SPACE = 1
    # CHANGE_KEYBOARD_TYPE = z
    # ADD_EXT3FS_PARTITION = 2GB

    # Select "pre", "preplus", "pixi" or "pixiplus".
    DEVICE = pre

    # Select "wr", "sprint", "verizonwireless", "bellmo", "telcel" or "att".
    CARRIER = bellmo

    Not sure if it matters, but I skipped the sudo -s. Didn't seem to cause any trouble, but maybe..?

    Appreciate any insight anyone might have!

    Oh wow. Solved. I accidentally kept transferring the original .jar instead of the packed one. FML.

    You just copied & pasted it in that last post, after I copied & pasted it for you...

    cd ..

    Compare that recommendation to the original post on page 1. It's there. I promise.

    The correct command inside those quotation marks is actually TWO commands.

    At the beginning of Step 8, it says, "Each command begins in bold and must be copied in its entirety."

    That means that mv is a command *and* cd is a command!

    Then you mean this.
    "mv webosdoctorp100ueu-wr.jar cd webosdoctorp100ueuwr-1.4.1.jar
    cd .."

    Or this

    "mv webosdoctorp100ueu-wr.jar cd mv webosdoctorp100ueuwr-1.4.1.jar
    cd ..

    I was able to save it but i save it as webosdoctorp100ueuwr-1.4.1.jar, then it asked me to overwrite it. When i tried the terminal command make unpack patch pack, it did not work.

    Strangely the file webosdoctorp100ueuwr-1.4.1.jar still exist in the directory downloads

    Terminal info

    root@ubuntu:~/meta-doctor# make unpack patch pack
