Is anyone else having issues viewing PDFs?

I've downloaded a few PDFs and I can only open 1 pdf (no matter what file) and it'll onlys how me the first 2 pages (incomplete at that). If i try to see page 3, it will just show a loading screen. Any subsequent opening of PDFs result in the same loading screen.

If I power off the Pre and start it again, I am able to open 1 file again.

    Is it just me?

I have the same problem, and its making it impossible to go over accounting issues onsite with casinos.

I read somewhere that this has something to do with images within the pdf, but not sure this is the exact issue everyone is having.

So no one has figured out a way to get around this huh?

That is a bit upsetting - I like to keep PDFs of my train/bus schedules.

Though I'll admit it only *sort* of worked on the Treo - it did - it was just incredibly slow and some PDF timetables weren't properly aligned - but at least I could see the times.

I can't even open a PDF with my Pre. It says it cannot find an application to open the file. I opened the PDF vieeer first and it still gave me that message. It is very frustrating.

Very very poor showing by Pre in this regard.

Its essential that I can access and read PDf if the Pre is going to work for me.

I log into a research library and access NCBI's Pub Med search and can access full text PDF journal articles there. Unfortunately the Pe will not read them.

EVEN if I transfer them from my computer to the Pre, or DL them from an email, the Pre doesnt read the PDF 4 times out of 5.

shudder. its beginning to look like the Pre as my business phone isn't going to last long.

Mine too, can't see the reason for a PDF viewer that can't view files.

While I don't appear to have a problem reading PDF's in portrait mode, I can't get them to read in landscape. I have asked for help on that in another thread so please don't take this as a second cry for help, but I did notice while in the other thread that people who couldn't open PDF's had success with CutePDF?

I don't know if that will work for you or not, but there you go.

Bring up the PDF viewer and load the Pre User Guide ( http://www.palm.com/us/support/handb...nt_p100eww.pdf ) on your phone. Load the document up in the PDF Viewer. Use the "Bookmarks" feature to browse the document. Jump to page 20 - no problem - displays perfectly (portrait OR landscape (WebOS Quick Install tweak)). Now advance to page 21 which contains an image, or jump via bookmark to pages 22, 23, 24 or 25. Instead of getting the page, I get a message titled !!! Error !!!, stating, "PDF Viewer has encountered an error. We apologize for the inconvenience. Error message: Render document failed." There is a button labeled "Done". Clicking on that closes the application.

I was having the same problems with the Palm Pre User Guide.
I loaded into Acrobat and did an "Optimize", reloaded it onto the Pre, and it works fine.

My problem is that I can't get "Find" to work in PDF View on the Pre.

    Anyone having problems with that?

    TIA,
    Tim Walters

The search works. Its the bar the covers the searchbar that prevents you from using it. Anyone have a way around this?

I went from loving this phone to resenting it after learning just how few apps there are. No ability to download and view pdf's? No Google Voice capability? No Flash app for viewing videos? Seriously? I'm livid over these shortcomings as I know I could do all of these things with just about any other brand of smartphone. And half of the apps they do have are just crap. Sex quiz. 40 different versions of citysearch. Frickin' moo moo farm, the game. I'm over it. Come out with a strong core of useful apps by 2010 or I'm switching phones faster than you can say "there's an app for that."

I will be giving that whine the attention it fully deserves.

I am able to download work documents and large image intensive files from the Internet such as full rail timetables with no problems at all. I have yet to encounter a pdf that does not work nor any significant complaints in regard to them so I can only assume that the ones you guys are using are non standard in some form.
