The only way possible would be to replace that particular image with a more transparent one you create.

In photoshop, I usually open the png, select all (ctrl a), cut to new layer (ctrl-shift-j), reduce opacity.. down to 65%, for examp, merge layers, save.
You could even do it with an action. Have a feeling that's not what you're looking for .. but, just to share method with anyone else looking.
