there are several threads about themes that did not get un-installed fully.

The general consensus seems to be that either one theme was installed over another one and the default icons got reset incorrectly or that a theme was installed one way (preware) and removed another (installer).

    I think everyone understands now

REMOVE THEMES BEFORE INSTALLING A NEW ONE

INSTALL AND REMOVE THEMES IN SAME MANNER

The issue is that many people have already made this mistake or another and are now stuck.

removing all installed themes still leaves icons / boot screens etc.

    What worked for me.

I simply ran WebOS Repair Utility. I repaired everything but I am guessing you can select to repair the right things to only effect the theme.

Are you using the current version of webOS repair? Do you have webOS 1.2.1 on your phone?

luckily my phone has not yet been pushed to 1.2.1

Didn't really think about that for other peoples needs. I guess if you are on 1.2.1 you will need to wait for the new version
