Has anyone else noticed their yahoo calendar is no longer syncing?

There have been a few discussions recently about Google and Yahoo accounts breaking when those providers changed to https protocol. Following this one about Yahoo contacts reminded me that my Yahoo calendar (which I don't use often) stopped working for me some time ago. It accepts my credentials and acts as if syncing is working, but it doesn't pull down my list of calendars or actually add/update/remove events. I thought that it might be related to the http->https change, but it doesn't appear that it is. At least, I don't think it is, since the code in the calendar service appears to utilize the correct https urls.

So, does anyone have ideas as to why this may be happening? I'm a developer, but have never tried doing webos development, so the investigation is slow going on my part.

Also, is there anyone else using the yahoo calendar who can corroborate or refute my issues?

I saw the same thing. I also never get the list of calendars when adding my Yahoo account to a device. I have never used Yahoo's calendar, and so far I can't find any of my devices that have Yahoo calendars on them to see if they behave any differently at all. I can see looking at the Yahoo calendar code, it is using caldav via an https: URL, so that isn't the reason it's failing. The only error message that I saw indicates it didn't get something back that it was expecting, and without additional logging and detailed study of the code, I can't debug it.

Hi Matt, thanks for your great help with google (contacts) and yahoo (contacts) sync patches.

Did you try the following URL for yahoo calendar? Unlike Google, Yahoo doesn't give (unknown error)...it just doesn't do anything. Did you try the following URL for yahoo calendar https://caldav.calendar.yahoo.com?

    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail/SLN47...pressions=true

    Thanks.

You're welcome. I'm glad I have been able to help the community.

I haven't had a chance to look at the code again yet, but I know the URL looks something like that (if not just like that) and is https.

I did look at the code last night, but haven't been able to debug it very well yet. The first thing I get is
    Code:
    2014-04-16T17:24:17.480163Z [83675] webos-device user.err calendar.yahoo.jsjsjs:
    [$com$.$palm$.$service$.$calendar$.$yahoo$] $TypeError$: $Cannot$ $read$ $property$ '$UID$' $of$ $undefined$
         $at$ $clazz$.$_getEventListURL$ ($javascript$/$assistants$/$syncassistant$.$js$:$1560$:$44$)
         $at$ $clazz$.$_getServerSyncStatus$ ($javascript$/$assistants$/$syncassistant$.$js$:$356$:$20$)
    &$lt$;$snip$ $out$ $a$ $bunch$ $of$ $framework$ $stuff$&$gt$;
    From that, and the relevant portions of syncassistant.jsjsjs, $it$ $looks$ $to$ $me$ $like$ $somehow$ $or$ $another$ $the$ $service$ $identified$ $that$ $there$ $is$ $a$ $list$ $of$ $calendars$ $out$ $there$, $but$ $failed$ $while$ $trying$ $to$ $instantiate$ $the$ $calendar$ $objects$ $to$ $populate$ $that$ $list$. $That$'$s$ $all$ $I$ $have$ $so$ $far$.

But yes, like Matt says, it is using https, and it is using the correct caldav url. That is, it appears that the code which builds the caldav url to get the list of calendars is correct. (Haven't been able to debug it to tell if it's executing correctly, but it looks right on a cursory inspection.) It fails while building the url to get the calendar events themselves. Or rather, it errors there -- the failure is somewhere upstream.

I don't want to advertise, but I'm looking for beta testers for a caldav connector for open & legacy webOS, which would support calendar & contact sync and should work for yahoo, too (I had it working once). If anybody who uses yahoo is willing to try it, feel free to contact me. :-)

I'll do it. Let me know the install instructions and your testing requirements.

I had a a bit of a hiccup with yahoo lately but it seems to have settled down. I haven't checked contact sync yet.

...why would you not want to advertise? ;-) I can put a call for testers on pivotCE if you want.

I'm up for it as well. I have an unused yahoo account I'm willing to test with.

"I don't want to conquer other people's threads" would be a better statement... but cdav connector is still in some kind of early beta phase. We have owncloud and egroupware working quite decently (that's what I use), it seems iCloud works, too, now. Some other stuff runs into smaller issues from time to time... for yahoo I'd like to create a convinient account (like I did for iCloud and google contacts), so you just have to enter your username and pw and don't have to find out the caldav/carddav urls yourself.

Could you send me an e-mail to garfonso@mobo.info (and other people interested in tests, too), pls include a list of devices you want to test on and which server (in case I'll forget that it revolves around yahoo ). I'll send you some ipks and some more (and up to date) information on how to use them.

Regarding the pivotCE Post: I think I'll have to gather all the information and organize them somehow normal people (i.e. non-devs) can understand them, first. I'll give it a first try either in my blog (Mobo Mobile Apps | Status information and some support for my webOs apps.) or on the github page.. maybe we should start to use the wiki there: https://github.com/webOS-ports/org.w...ntacts.carddav - anyway, I think I'll come back to that offer.

Of course, you could also start a thread here...

I'd like to test too. I very much like the idea of a standard caldav connector. I kinda like having just one Synergy account for all my Yahoo stuff, too, so I may see if I can strip and replace the calendar parts of the Yahoo account with yours. If I get that energetic, that is.

I'll send an email for instructions.

See above for the email address to apply to be a tester. There have just been a spate of updates & bug fixes. 0.3.6 is the latest beta for testing.

    Hello,

    Thx, I'll do that.

I just wanted to add some observations of mine. I use basically one yahoo calendar. It seemed to stop working few weeks ago so I did yesterday some more testing.

I don't know if this was posted before (I might have read something in this direction here somewhere). When I enter events using my yahoo calendar they are shown in the calendar app until the next synchronisation. Then they suddenly disappear. But, they are being synchronized anyway because they show up on my yahoo.com online interface.

So one-way synchronisation seems to work.

For testing purposes I opened a new yahoo account yesterday. Upon trying to add it to the calendar app I ran into the mentioned "no reaction". Nothing happens and that's it. But then I tried once more and after some time I get the page where I can select what information should be shared (emails, calendar events, contacts etc.). After confirming these options the account is set up successfully and emails are being downloaded. But, the new yahoo calendar doesn't appear in the calendar app I can't add or see events using the new calendar.
It is shown when I look at the account information in the calendar app but in the calendar display options it is not shown. Thus, I'm not able to set a colour etc. for the calendar.

    That's what I found out.

Contacts should now also work with the generic c+dav connector and Yahoo (and google ). So if more people want to test, feel free to contact me at garfonso@mobo.info

Quick feedback. I mailed in detail Garfonso.

Yahoo C+Dav works for Calendar events (for two of my three Yahoo accts.). What's wrong with the third - I don't know. I set it up just last week. Maybe they have some different settings fror newer accts? I have no clue.

Google C+Dav isn't working. I do not know why. If I find some time I'll investigate (I tried Google sync https fix).

    Best Joerg
