Google Talk in messenger app Formatting

I was wondering if anyone noticed this before. When I and another webOSer were "texting" in the messenger app, we stumbled upon some weird formatting. When a certain Combination of characters are typed in a message, it bolds the message for the webOS user on the other side. I was wondering, if I can bold in the messenger app, can I Italicize, too. I also figured out a character combination that adds larger then usual characters to the messages too. Has anyone already figured out all the combinations, and their formatted results, or have we (me and my friend) discovered something?
Is this also present in the newer versions of webOS, my friend and I are running 1.4.5.
