    I doctor'd my phone yesterday to 1.3.5.

After initially setting up the phone I noticed the gmail contacts only syncs 30 out of 200 of my gmail contacts. I went to google.contacts.com and all of my contacts are still in there.

I tried removing my gmail account from the palm pre and re-installing it. It still shows only 30 contacts sync'd.

Thank you very much for your help!

Go to google and backup your contacts and calender right away. You might need to wait just a bit for the info to load on your phone.

I tried to troubleshoot with Palm and they don't know how to fix the issue. They said they will have a specialist get back to me within 2-3 business days.

After 1.3.1, only your "My Contacts" will sync. Typically most GMail contacts fall under the "All Contacts" category instead of "My Contacts".

Login to your GMail and make sure that all of the contacts you want are under "My Contacts".

Posted in another thread but go into your contacts through gmail and make sure that none of the contacts in my contacts have symbols like * or @ in the name. I think that is what fixed it for me.

the only thing that fixed it for me was to doctor it back to 1.3.2 make sure everything synced, contacts, etc. Then update it back to 1.3.5
when I talked to Palm about it they said sometimes updates don't install correctly.

Make sure you're gmail contacts have the information in the right fields. That ended up being a problem for me, after importing a .csv file.
LG Rumor -> HTC Touch -> Palm Pixi -> Palm Pre+ (if they ever bring it to Sprint)

I logged into my gmail and I have 290 contacts under my contacts. Looks like i'll have to doctor it back to the previous version of webos.

This same thing happened to me after a partial reset to fix some apps that didn't move properly after the 1.3.5 update. I have tried everything I can think of (short of downgrading to 1.3.1) and I still can't get all of my Google contacts onto the phone even after a week of waiting.

I think something broke in 1.3.5 with Google contacts sync, because this has never been a problem with other updates.

I agree. I have not had a problem with my Google contacts (only source for contacts since migrating over before the Pre's original release) since June 6th, 2009. Obviously, I dont have any non-alphabetic characters in the name fields and yes my contacts are in 'My Contacts category in Google. I feel that its 1.3.5, and 1.3.5.1 did not fix things for me. I even resynced the contacts after the 1.3.5.1 upgrade (no patches) and still nothing. I refuse to go back to a previous version, as that will only cache the contacts and not fix the syncing issue.

If anyone has any other solutions or thoughts, I am all ears.

Yeah, I did that and forgot to mention. I might try it again tomorrow.

I deleted the Gmail account and noticed that immediately, my available contacts went from 59 to 2. I proceeded to remove that same Gmail account in the Email, Calendar, and Messaging apps. I rebooted, and reinstalled in the Email app. After the sync, I had 59 contacts. So that means that it IS syncing, but not all contacts.

I went to my Google Contacts account to investigate. I have 171 contacts in "My Contacts". Within 'My Contacts', I have 4 sub categories (Family, Friends, Co-workers, & Businesses). Not every contact within 'My Contacts' is in a sub category. So I started comparing and contrasting the contacts that show up on my Pre and what's in my 'My Contacts'. Sure enough, there are contacts that are in no sub category as well as contacts in each one of the 4 sub categories. I tested this theory by:

-moving a contact from one sub category to another. No change after a force sync and reboot of Contacts app.
-deleting a contact that existed in my Google acct but not on my Pre OUT of the sub category, and nothing changed.
-deleting a contact that existed both on my Pre & in Google out of 'My Contacts'. After I forced a sync and restarted the Contacts app, the contact was deleted.
-I re-added that contact to 'My Contacts' and it reappeared after another forced sync and reboot of the Contacts app.
-Added a contact not in my Pre or in "My Contacts". Did not show up on my Pre after a sync and reboot.

There appears to be no rhyme or reason as to why Synergy is syncing some contacts from Google and not the others.
