    I know you can get fb chat through the browser but native support for chat on the pre might be right around the corner...

    Well as it stands right now our current messaging application for AIM (and Yahoo for some apparently) on webOS is based on libpurple. There are already plugins to support facebook chat through clients that run the libpurple library so it's entirely possible for it to even be integrated directly into the client as it currently is - it simply just needs to be done.

    Yeah, but libpurple has issues with Facebook chat the way it is now -- dropped messages, duplicated messages, etc. This should eliminate all those problems. i think it's great news.
