If you really want to use Itunes try deleting the Ipodcontrol folder on your Pre then try to sync again. I would uninstall Itunes and all the other junk it puts on your PC though. Download something like J River Jukebox.

Media Jukebox: Free J. River Media Jukebox software

Where is the Ipod control folder?

    - Click on Start –> Control Panel –> Folder Options.
    - Click on the View Tab and check the button “show hidden files and folders” and press OK.
    - Go into the Pre folder (My Computer -> Palm Pre icon) & delete the IpodControl folder.

But this error is most likely due to a bad file. Try syncing again and pay attention to the top bar (where the sync is displayed). Pay attention & see which file is syncing right as you get the error. Delete that mp3 & try syncing the rest.
