So in many email programs you have an option to not see the pics/graphics unless you click a box or a button.

Once in a while I get emails that I just delete in outlook or whatever. The other day I got an email on my Pre, and since I wanted to delete it I had to open it. And then I got a giant picture of genitalia on my beautiful Pre screen. I had people walking around me at the time, and I almost had a heart attack because I don't want to lose my good reputation.

Anyone had similar experiences / got any solutions for the future?

You can delete emails from the inbox directly..

From list view, swipe your finger over the email subject from left to right.. it'll delete it.

I think there are lots of people in this forum that would be amazed to find that there are all kinds of features in the core apps that without reading the manual would be hidden. Swiping away emails is just one of them.

Sadly, it is a sign of our times and unfortunately not what the founding fathers had in mind by allowing others to express their First Amendment rights upon us.

I hate this crap and my policy is to remove without opening ANY e-mail that I do not recognize. I use Yahoo for my primary account and they fortunately have increased filter size to 200 filters. As I get these trash e-mails I add another filter and so it goes. The porn industry has taken off where the Nigerian get rich quick schemes have failed. There is NO way to block these on the Pre to my knowledge and you must filter at another level. I would be very careful with Outlook as many of the "images" if you can call them that contain embedded code.

Sorry I can only offer support for your/our plight with these things. I wonder when someone is going to honor my rights to NOT receive such crap in the mail. It is not the kind of freedom I fought so hard for.....

    Regards,

    Jim

I forward my email from my ISP into a GMail account. GMail does a great job identifying SPAM (better than most ISPs). You can have GMail push the messages to your Ore and save battery life. Gmail also works great with the Pre. See if you can set this up (or get a friend to help figure it out). You'll save time and effort by filtering on Google's server.

Hotmail doesn't appear to have a forwarding option.

I did not know that you could have GMail filter for Spam for you from mail pushed from another program. Great idea.

You can have your gmail account go and grab your hotmail email and bring it into your gmail account and then "pushed" to pre. To get gmail to grab hotmail, you just go into the account settings in gmail and it's one of the options. You can also, have it set that when you reply it says (and shows) as if it's coming from the hotmail account. then on the pre, you just set it up for delivery "as new mail arrives".

Just make sure you read the settings careful on gmail's site. The first time I set it up, it was deleting the emails from the hotmail inbox once it grabbed into gmail. I understand why it did this, so as to not force a user to read something twice, but I like it kept in both places so I had to change the setting.

Just an FYI, you can delete by swiping from right to left as well.
