WTF is up with yahoo mail? some say it's push, some say it's not. I've tried both ways (as it arrives and 5 min), and each time there have been times when emails have not gotten through - but appear when refresh manually. What gives...yahoo is my main acct

Please don't be rude and tell me to "just use gmail" - I already do and I have different accounts for different reasons

I believe that Yahoo is POP3, which doesn't support push, as opposed to Gmail's IMAP, which does.

On a side note, are you really paying for a POP3 account from Yahoo? Why would you pay for a service that is done better and at no cost elsewhere? I'm sure there's a logical reason...I've just always been curious why people would pay for this.

It's free Yahoo, not plus. I don't know what protocol it actually uses...I don't pay for it so I guess it's not POP. I left my BB Pearl b/c stupid BIS can't handle large inboxes, and it seems like I'm back to square one...

Yahoo supports push via BIS and also IMAP (or whatever) on the iPhone, so clearly the service is capable...

I thought that you needed to pay for Plus to get POP3. Not to be a jerk, but you really should just suck it up and use Gmail. It's tough moving everything over at first, but it's definitely worth it. Yahoo is garbage.
