Not a dumb question at all. In fact, its so not dumb, I'm sure none of us know the real answer.

I know I don't know the answer, but I would love to know!

Well I've seen a Facebook App Icon in one of the demos, but I've never seen it being demo'd so it's possible.

I don't think that was a "real" facebook app but rather the web page added as a favourite to the launcher. I saw a hands-on video from a U.K site where the rep was asked about it and demonstrated to the reporter what it was. I could be wrong, but that was the impression i got.

I'm not even clear on the pre's e-mail push functions. I think that if you has exchange or EAS you will get push e-mail, but can you get push gmail?

I don't quite get the urgency about push email in general. I just set my device/client/whatever to poll the server every 10 minutes, and get mail in a timely manner. If I'm expecting a specific urgent email and can't wait the 5 minutes or so to the next pull, I manually poll the server.

Are other people's emails so urgent that a few minutes latency on routine stuff is a hardship?

I like it for the cool factor, my phone gets the email as soon as it hits the server. Not that I need it. Another reason is that I use email over sms.

If you found my post useful then please sign up for a Dropbox Account, I could use the extra 250mb of storage.

HOW TO: Zip/Unzip via Pre/Pixi using Terminal
HOW TO: Modify DTMF audio (webOS 1.4.5 or earlier)

This is agood question. On the current Facebook app for Plam you need to go check as well. Would be very nice if you were alerted instead. hmmmmm

You could have Facebook email alerts to you with updates. Kind of archaic though.

Yep - I use there Text mesage option. when i get the TM, i usually delete it rght away and then go in into the app. It adds a step but it gets the job done.

If anyone here is a face book fan and not usein either the TM or e-mail option you should try it.

That would be too annoying if you're an active facebook user. Imagine receiving 100+ text messages a day for the alerts. I like the way Blackberry intercepts your email alerts and incorporate it into their FB app for alerts. Now.. if they would just make a fully functional FB app... Since, the Pre is supposedly always connected, I don't see why the FB app can't incorporate live alerts on the Pre.

It appears the FB app was an identical port of the iPhone App (in terms of GUI / use). There has been no mention of the alert system being different... I'd be interesting if they integrated it into the alerts on the notification area.

normally i would completely agree with that, but I only have a 500 text message limit and tend to send emails through @messaging.sprintpcs.com to save some texts if I'm running low. I like finding out when I get a text (which is actually an email in this case) right away.

Given the way palm talks about cloud computing it would not surprize me if they would support it, especially since FB is a launch partner..
But then again it is pretty early to make any conclusions and we dont have any solid information so it will stay speculation till then....
