Encouraging people to scam the company that we are hoping will be saved by the pre? If you really need this then its great customer service, but on the internet then people tend to try to get anything they can if its free.

The direct no hold , no IVR number to Sprint Account Services aka Retentions is

1-866-235-1185

Customer Service (no IVR) is 1-877-222-5006

also, if you have a spending limit... they probably won't be able to bill it to your account, unless you use a credit card to pay for it up front, then they'll credit that back to your account. Not your card.

and the air rave is usually like 99.99 ( I think )... Also, they've told me so far, they won't wave the 4.99 fee. YMMV.

I beg your pardon? Who here is scamming the company? All are having issues with reception in their homes and if it's Sprint's retention policy to offer this solution, so be it.

Think twice before making such comments.

I agree! If you are not receiving calls where you live and can't make calls unless you get out of the house, then Sprint will not work for you and you might as well leave Sprint. Now, if they fix the issue by giving you an Airave free of charge, the good for you! It will be scamming if you call them without having any issues just to get something FREE!

There is that 10 dollars a month for unlimited calling from home using Airave. Pretty good benefit except i'm not usually home during the time it'd benefit me. After 7pm its free anyways.

It's not Sprint, it's the Pre. Everyone that is new to Sprint is quick to judge the network. I have been with sprint for over 7 years, using every PalmOS phone from the 650 to now, and even gave the 680/800/Treo Pro a shot. Have also had an LG Musiq and a Rumor. I have NEVER had a problem with sprint service. I have always have 3-5 bars and EVDO no matter where I am traveling to. This Pre is the only phone I have that goes crazy on cell reception. In fact, if I have my old Centro (fiance's now) sitting next to me, and the Pre sitting next to me, the Pre will go in and out of 1x/EV, drop calls, lose signal etc. and the Centro sits at 4-5 bars with perfect EVDO constantly. Never has a problem dropping calls or anything.

Don't be so quick to judge Sprint. B$%^ to Palm for a programming/hardware fix, not a bandaid personal cell tower. Besides, you still have to use WiFi with the Airrave unless you want 1x data, and the Airrave doesn't work when you leave the house..

I'll definitely try this when I get home. Should we do it before we switch plans to EPRP if we're on SERO and haven't done so yet though? I bet the discount code wouldn't transfer.

It doesn't matter what plan your on, I'm on the Everything Plus Referral plan and got the Airave.

When you do call, don't just say you want the Airave. Have them offer it to you since you have bad coverage in your home.

Like i said on my previous posts, its not to scam the company, *** is a phone gonna do for me if i can't use it? Considering all the complaints with the service on the Pre and customers porting out why not call Sprint and get the Airave? I'm actually trying to help the company.

Has anyone tried hooking one of these up inside of a car? Any reason why it wouldn't work (like it establishes a connection to a single tower and doesn't easily auto-switch to other towers as you drive)?

It wouldn't work since you need to connect the Airave to a network router.

I called about my 1 - 0 bar & frequent roaming in my office and Sprint is giving me the run around. The guy was pretty short and said they do have an Airave and before having me incur the purchase fee and monthly costs (***, and this was retentions) he needed to have a tech troubleshoot my Pre. I asked if there was a problem with the pre, and he got *****y and said well, he needs to exhaust all avenues before selling me the Airave. Um, I will just cancel before buying something just to get my phone to work properly.

I was transferred to 2 techs, none of which knew anything about the Pre. No surprise there.

So here I sit waiting on another tech to call me on my wife's ATT line (that works fine in my office).

I am very close to returning to ATT. Sprint is giving me the run around.

Yep you have to get the right rep. I did not immediately get it offered for free.

First they suggested I get tech support and maybe go to the store. I said that I already did that and that sprint rep said my phone was fine.

After that I got told oh well, we do not guarantee service inside and I kept my cool and just asked if my only option was then to cancel and go back to ATT. That is when they said let me transfer you to see if we can work out a deal since we do not want to lose you as a customer.

Its all about being nice and if you do get a bad attitude retention specialist hang up and call back. You can even tell the next person how rude the previous guy/gal was to help your case.

Honestly I feel that this is not a scam. IF i cant use my phone inside it means I need a house phone which I do not want. ATT worked just fine inside so I really do have limited options if they do not want to provide me the Airave free.

Thanks. I just figured that out myself after spending a couple minutes Googling. I figured this was just a signal repeater, but I see now that it connects to your home broadband connection. So my next question was going to be whether it consumes any of your minutes when you're at home, and another Google search seems to suggest that it does not, but that you need an Airave "plan" whatever that is. So I'll go do some more Googling, but in the mean time, perhaps someone can jump in on that. Do you have to pay an additional monthly fee for the "privilege" of using your broadband connection or do you just pay the one-time Airave cost?

To all those who think this is scamming Sprint. What do you think they would prefer more, give away a $99 piece of hardware once or $99 simply everything plan per month for two years. I think Sprint already did the math on this and realized the better option.

$99 + $4.99 a month, some people even had to sign up for a 2 year contract. It uses your internet and electricity(more cost). Got mines a while back for free, it works great.. been complaining about this area for over 10 years..

Another thing to remember when calling is that you should reminde them that you already dealt with local store reps and chat support (in my case). Since I also said both mentioned tha Airave as a solution, this allowed the retentions rep assisting me to go ahead and confirm the Airave order.

And I had no idea there was a $10/mth unlimited offer on Airave usage. That's pretty good.

Default I had the same experience..

They gave me airave waiving the cost for the device and the monthly cost..Sprint's definitely serious about customer service now...I got the airave and am now getting 5 bars though at 1X but the call quality is great..I have wifi in the house..Works like a charm...Thanks Sprint !!!
