It seems that in the past few months, many webOS fans have gotten a pre 2 or pre 3 and activated it on a prepaid straight talk plan. (including myself) Anyone who has switched over will see that the carrier string reads "HOME", in big annoying letters. This patch sets the carrier string to "Straight Talk" and you will no longer see "HOME" anymore. This patch also replaces the "Phone Offline" message.
This patch is based on the "HP webOS" carrier string by ShiftyAxel, and Jason Robitaille. MIT Open Source License: Open Source Initiative OSI - The MIT License (MIT):Licensing | Open Source Initiative I have tested this on my own phone and the webOS 2.x emulator. I am not responsible if your phone gets damaged from this. (Although there is no reason why it should) Enjoy!

Thank you, the patch works well, but seems to have one unintended side effect: normally the lock screen displays the current date in the top bar - this is convenient to glance at with a quick press of the power button. With the patch installed, the date is missing.
It would be great if you could bring it back where it belongs. Thanks again |
