[patch request] headphone remote volume

hi all, i've been reading this forum for about 2 years, a little before i got my pre. i recently picked up an iphone compatible headset with volume controls, which unfortunately on the pre do nothing. I was wondering if anyone could make a patch that allows the volume buttons to work, or maybe an app that allows the user to map a headphone remote's buttons. the other features work, except for volume control.

i feel like a patch or app to this extent would be quickly become a staple on webos and i would greatly appreciate any feedback. i personally run an original pre on 1.4.5 and love it.

I'm not so sure a patch could fix that, although I could be wrong. I have a pair of Beats Solo HD headphones, which the volume control doesn't work in webOS.
