[patch request] Data auto on/off

So basically the idea is that the data connection only turns on when the screen is on or when an app/service requests it, boosting the battery life.

My Pre 2 battery life lasts 3x as long with the data off, so id love a patch that took advantage of that option when possible.

Better yet, a patch that changes from 2g to 3g whenever the connection gets saturated... Having data connection turned off defeats the purpose of having a smartphone with email capabilities...

You could use mode switcher for this job. With two modes with triggers for the display state.
