[Patch][Touchpad] Browser - Download Instead Of Stream

Made this really simple patch. When you tap a link to a streamable file, the Browser will download it instead of stream it. I've only tested this with mp3 files and it works fine. Too sleepy to test it more... lol.

I'll improve on this patch later today.

I'll reply to any posts here when I wake up... Good night!

Excellent, thank you. I'll be giving this a go. I'll keep saying it until it happens; this should be a native function in the webos 3 browser.

Does it only down load? Does it give to option to download or stream?

Right now, it only downloads. I'll work on adding an option to stream.

I tried to put this on my pre but it gave me some error while trying to install it. It just says an error occcured while trying to apply patch, the text leading up to this was and then a bunch of text that basically said the name of the patch and who made it

I tried to install this directly from the touchpad with internalz and gave me an error. After using webos quick install the device reset by itself. Waiting for it to boot up to see if it worked.

Use Multi Mod for your Pre. It's in Preware.

Thanks for this man, just tried, works great. It's a step in the correct direction as to what I'd like to see native to the unpatched webos 3 browser. Looking forward to whatever updates you decide to do.

Update: Never mind, I figured it out. Use Quick Install, click on the + icon and select the file :-). Sorry, newbee...

ive downloaded this patch and when i click download on the touchpad it does download. however when i go to play it the song comes up with a title but it says it is 0 seconds. i downloaded from hulkshare is it the site that i used or what?

Is it safe to assume this will work with youtube videos as well? I'd test it out, but don't have my tp yet :/

Mine installed fine. I just don't think it works for Youtube videos. Have not tried it with mp3's yet. And I'm not sure where they are saved on the Tpad yet.....

This patch isn't working for me on the sites I've tried to download mp3's from so far. On some I'll get the download link option to show in context menu but when I click it it doesn't do anything and on other sites that have a link specific for downloading the mp3 all it shows is copy in the context menu when I hold my finger over the link and then it starts streaming it.

Any update on this patch adding additional options? I really enjoyed using it as the "Add download link" patch in PreWare didn't work at all for me. However there are several sites, like megaupload and others like that which when you click on the download button and it wants to save the cgi file.
