    Hi,

inspired by James Harris patch "WhitePages Call Log Phone Lookup" I took his patch and modified it to look numbers up at the german "phone book" dasoertliche.de. It launches the mobile site with reverse lookup.

I just submitted the patch for 1.4.5 to the preware patch feed. As soon as it gets activated, I will upload the update for 2.1.0. If you can't wait, here are the patches:

    - Patch for webos 1.4.5

    - Patch for webos 2.1.0

Use at your own risk! Have fun and THANKS James Harris for his patch. It was a matter of minutes to modify it and enable me to do my first patch!

    Marcel

Congrats. I see more activity in the German forum, but glad you were able to modify it so quickly and get it working. Now you just need to turn that web service into a working app

I've just submitted a patch that displays the results on the same phone app.
no need to open the browser.
i guess you can use it to update your patch.

we should add Tweaks capabilities to it.

instead of having a patch for Germany, Aussie and so on, that should be configured.
we can select from a list of supported countries or editing the search URL

the ajax also needs the parameter name, you see most links look like this:
    http://something.com/search.php?phone=324234
we can set the 'url' and the 'phone'

i think that covers all (or most) reverse lookup search databases
    Avner.

But plz also think of the 1.4.5. users cause i think tweaks not working here. But configurable patches are always a good thing for 2.x (perhaps a config where you can select "to webbrowser" or "direct notification")

If that new method would be implemented, it would be great if "add to contacts" would also prefill the name or at least copy the name in the clipboard, cause if the website was open i could copy the name directly to a new contact- with the new way i could just see the notfication and press OK to dismiss and would have to enter the name manually.

    Updated for Enyo on 2.2.x

Still opens the browser currently. Will try and see if I can do the nice popup solution somehow as well. Enyo is a bit of pain compared to Mojo to do these thing sometimes

    [edit]
    Added 3.0.5 patch

for me webbrowser solution is ok, you can copy name details fast and then add this person as contact AND if website layout changes is in more difficult to update in a parsing patch with popup.
But if if it is possible, choices are always good
