Sorry, I am coming to this again, but I would really appreciate if you could inform me when you would be able to see how I could use your patch on my Palm Pre.

    Hi Loiter, hi guys,

happy new year to all of you!

Did you have any news on that 1.4.5 testing thing? I use a Palm Pre Pixi and would like to help you with that - I really need those greek characters!

    Cheers

You can contact studyhood (the user in the previous posts). I sent him the patch to test it and I believe he made some changes and managed to get it working. PM him.

Also a good idea would be to post it here or even better send it to Preware if indeed it works. There are plenty of 1.4.5 users.

No need to ask for a donation.
Tsanis sent me an e-mail and told me he managed to do it.
I'll ask him, so I can attach it here.

    OK here it is.
    I didn't make it, I haven't tested it, I'm just the courier.
You test it and if it is ok, we'll add it to the first post. If not, I have no responsibility.

Hi guys, there I am again...!

I tested the patch on my phone (Pixi Plus from Vodafone Germany, no branding) and found out some problems regarding the sms'es. When sending an sms out, I can see the greek characters, but my counterpart reads only question marks...
Then I installed Shura's russian layout and tried it out with russian characters: again, the sms received on a russian smartphone (so no excuses about missing fonts) appeared to have misunderstood the coding, so only question marks for me today.

I have no explanation for that, maybe we should ask Shura if he's facing it too.

Apart from that, all other functions seem to work flawlessly.

    Enjoy!

You might want to check the following file:

I suspect that some of the characters might not have been added to this table?

@Herrie: that was a great idea!

Unfortunately, I can't find the greek small letters on the 7 bit default alphabet:
    The 7 bit default alphabet

So how am I supposed to add them?

Most of the credits should go to shura, as its russian keyboard was the base for many other keyboards, including mine. Also, I'd like to thank A24 for making the first greek keyboard.

The improvement in this keyboard is that it supports both accents and diaeresis over greek letters (both lowercase and capitals). It has been tested and works perfectly in Contacts, Messaging, Dialpad, Memos, Facebook App etc.

REQUIREMENTS: GNU Patch and Lsdiff. Both available in Preware.

INSTALLATION: The best way is to copy the file in your phone and run it from there (through Internalz Pro for example, you run the .patch file and it installs). It can also be installed through webOS QI, however in some cases the encoding changes after the transfer and some letters may not appear.
    Uninstallation is easy from Preware.
If you have previously installed another keyboard patch make sure you have uninstalled it.

EDIT The patch is now also available through Preware. Search "Greek accented layout for hardware keyboard". It's under the "Mojo" category.

USE: Double-tapping the SYM key changes between EN-GR. In order to put an accent over letter you press "q" and then the vowel you want. Diaereses over greek letters ι and υ are used with "Q" and the letter.

DISCLAIMER: I have installed and uninstalled the patch both in the SDK 2.1 emulator and my Unlocked 2.1 Pre 2 phone without ANY problems. However I'm not a programmer and using this patch is your decision.

    PROBLEMS/KNOWN ISSUES:
    * Until now, the only problem is that in the native browser greek letter σ comes as ς. The same problem exists in A24's keyboard. It probably has to do something with the browser. This does not happen in the browser search (see screenshot) or any other app from what I know.
    * When typing in Just Type the first greek character comes always with an english character. The next greek characters appear normally. This happens also in shura's russian keyboard so it must be a Just Type thing. I don't know the reason for that and I'll be asking in the forum if anyone can help.
EDIT This problem has now been solved thanks to the solution by chansom. Follow the instructions in this topic: http://forums.precentral.net/webos-p...character.html
    * There are no other known issues. If you have a problem tell me, but I can't promise I'll be able to help

    SCREENSHOTS:
Thanks man..keep up the good work...

just tried it but I am missing some letters: small ψ (small psi letter where c is, it comes like a square followed by space followed by ?) small ρ (small r letter where r is, it comes like a square followed by space followed by ?)

also some capital letter display like a square followed by space followed by ?

I have Palm Pre 2 2.2.4 and I had to install the patch by downloading the file and installing it through WebOS Quick Install as a file, only Hebrew and Russian layouts are available via download

Sorry for the delay, I'm not present in these forums anymore as I've moved on from WebOS.
Reading again the first post, I remembered that this may be caused by installing it through WebOS QI.
Try to run it as a patch file with a file explorer app as proposed in the first post.
