    @all

    Would love to be able to tell immediately whether my Pre is connected to a UMTS network or the faster HSDPA network. Many other phones show either a 3,5 or an H icon to display a HSDPA-connection, but the Pre doesnīt.

    Since

    -this icon already exists in the stock images /usr/lib/luna/system/luna-systemui/images)

    -and the app "Statter" seems to be able to read corresponding information and show when the Pre is connected to HSDPA

    I was wondering if it is possible to enable this icon with a patch.
    I would assume that this is possible since e.g. thereīs also a gps-icon in those stock images which is being enabled by a certain patch afaikafaikafaik.

    Any help is being highly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Try this patch. Looks like I only had to make two small tweaks in systemui.css...

    By default, your phone uses the 3G icon for UMTS and HSDPA...

    Original:
    Code:
    #datanet.connected-umts {
    	background-image: url(../images/network-3g-connected.png);
    }

    #datanet.connected-hsdpa {
    	background-image: url(../images/network-3g-connected.png);
    I changed it to:
    Code:
    #datanet.connected-umts {
    	background-image: url(../images/network-umts-connected.png);
    }

    #datanet.connected-hsdpa {
    	background-image: url(../images/network-hsdpa-connected.png);
    I can't test this patch since I have a Sprint Pre... Let me know if it works...

    Nice! I was worried since it was so easy to make this change lol. Every time I offer to help with something, it turns out to be much more complicated than I was expecting lol...
