I used to have an app in my Treo and Centro that would allow me to calibrate the brightness levels to whatever I wanted at different ambient light conditions and then forget about it and it adjusted itself after that. It used the camera to "see" the ambient light...

I'd love to have something like this for the Pre! I have it at 0 screen and have the fixed 25 kb brithness patch. most of the time indoors it's all right but outside on a bright day I have to manually crank it up to be able to see clearly.

In theory it could use the light sensor without the actual camera being used. I checked out the supporting files for the camera and couldn't figure out where it actually does the light sensing to set the autoflash. It would be awesome!
