    Hi folks,

Somehow I have the USB Pass Through icon on my Pre- and I can't figure out how it got there. I didn't install the patch or any of the tether apps.

Now my Pre won't go into USB mode at all, my Vista computer is telling me there's an NDIS Gadget that it can't find drivers for and WOSQI doesn't see my Pre.

I'm getting quite miffed. I really don't want to Doctor my Pre but I need to be able to use my Pre as a USB drive.

    Did you installed Advanced Preferences?...

Just hide it. Hold the gesture area, tape the app and click hide.

Well if your Pre doesnt go in USB mode. Click to see if you assign diag to on of the usbs in usb passthrough.

You must have assigned diag to one of them. Even if you still dont see daig..Unplug pre from computer and assign diag to the usb ports one after another. Like...USB 1...assign diag...and then unassign it...do the same for usb 2...Sometimes it gets stuck..

Yes! The enable/disable routine brought back my USB mode!

I did install the Advanced Preferences but didn't realize it was part of the set. I clicked on it by accident earlier in the week. I didn't think I'd activated anything but I did search for "help" once it was open.

I hid the USB Passthrough so I don't accidentally throw any switches again.

Yeah..it happens...sometimes you mistakenly launch the app and press all kinds of buttons lol.

I too am having trouble with this. I installed the patch (just the patch, not advanced preferences) and then removed it, but the icon remains. Doing the "hide it' steps doesn't work. No menu to hide appears. This is on a pre2 with 2.0.1. When I run the applet it comes up to the enter authorization code screen, so I can't accidently change things, which is fine, but I'd really like to get rid of the icon.

so far as i can tell on the pre2 you will have to wait for sconix to get his advanced system preference patch updated -- he is indicating the it will not be out untill all devices are on 2.1 so this might be a while -- my suggestion is make an additional launcher page way out on the end and put all of the things you don't like on it -- this -- vznav etc

You guys should also now have a first use app & phone services app. The Advanced preferences unhides these apps. Just hide them all again to prevent any mishap's.

    this won't work on pre2.

i think on 2.0.1 this icon is alway visable -- the ebagg patch lets you skip the authorization step

I could be wrong (its happened before) but I dont recall it there before the patch. If it was, then I will just create (as suggested) a page that has whatever I dont wanna see.

    Thanks all.

So you installed the patch named enable USB passthrough & you don't want USB passthrough? Not trying to be funny but there is a lil irony there don't you think?...

does the patch have some other fuctionality besides USB passthrough?

Someone else posted usb passthrough is always visible on the pre 2, I'm confused. Why would there be a need for an enabling patch?

Tried it, decided I didn't need it.

Bypasses the need for a code to access its function.

Again, to bypass the code. I guess, if the icon was always there, I just don't remember it, ce la vie.

No USB Passthrough is not default available except through the dialer ##Usbpass* in which case you need the keygen.
